What happens when my one year contract is up? Does dish take the equipment back or give you a deal on buying it? I'm confused. Thanks for any help.

If you stay on service, you continue leasing it. If you cancel, they take the equipment back.

I signed up for Dish back in April of this year. Dish then restarted my 12 month contract over on Sept. 1st, because I upgraded (to top 150) and moved. Is this standard, and if not do you think there is anyway I can have this overruled, and have my contract begin from when I first signed up?

Sorry, Jericho, if you accept any offers requiring a 1 year commitment, you are stuck. I had signed up for a 1 year deal for my 6000 and then 10 months later bought the 501 under another deal and my 12 months extended from the purchase date of my 501.

You must have used the "Mover" program. You could have paid like $75 and not had a commitment.

No Jericho it is not insane it is just a customer who dosen't like the rules he agreed to. The DISH Mover requires a 1 Yr. subscription to AT-150 and credit card autopay to be free otherwise it is a $99.00 fee. $75 is the reduced price if you do credit card autopay.

Ok, I get it now. 1 year of AT-150. So I only started AT-150 in Septmember therefore thats when the year begins.

To the point of a buy-out option...there is none. I tried to do this with my eq and was told it wasn't an option. Unless you plan on keeping the eq for more than 4 years, it is cheaper just to pay the $5.00/month anyway.

If your leasing equipment can you get any special equipment upgrades after your contract is up or are you stuck with the older equipment? If you could upgrade for a relatively low amount (even signing up for another year contract of AT-150) it would seem like a pretty decent deal.

You can upgrade to a Dish Player w/ a one year contract for $100.

So there is no way to buy the equipment you are leasing? How much am I actually paying to lease this equipment? I have a 501 and 301. I want to be able to own both of them.

Well I went and read the lease agreement and the question is why would you want to buy the equipment? You notice you are paying $5/month per box. But, if you own the equipment dish will charge you $5/month per box anyways to activate it.

The only extra charge that you are really paying is that you pay $5/month for the first reciever where you would get that free if you owned all the recievers.

If you got the dish home plan it would take many years at $60/year to cost more than equipment. Assuming you would pay $99 for each reciever... $396/60 = 6 years 8 months before you would have "saved" by buying your equipment. If you have a 501/508 you would have to pay even longer to come out ahead ($100 for the upgrade DHP for a $200 more reciever is another year and 8 months).

And if you factor in the value of money, you probably would never come out ahead by buying the equipment. $396 in pocket is worth far more today than $5/month 6 years 8 months from now.

Yes, you can own the equipment after 1 year. All you have to do is call Dishnetwork and cancel after your year is up and they will send you a pre-paid shipping boxes to send back all the old equipment back. They are going to require you send back the recievers, remotes and the LNBF on the Dish.

From there, goto Sams Club, Sears, or any retailer and have them sell you a recievers and an LNBF.

Re-install the LNB back on your house, or send Dish back the LNB you just purchesed and connect up your recievers and re-activate service as a No promotion sale since your an existing customer.

With that said, if you simply intend to replace what your leasing its preety stupid to buy your equipment, since it would take years of paying the $5 lease fee to make up for the cost of the equipment.

The only way buying your equipment would be worthwhile would be if you wanted to get a 6,000 or upgrade your recievers to some of the higher end equipment which the lease doesn't support!
