Nice board, glad I finally joined. Lots of good info!

The old fix of hitting left and right LED ring lights seems to have quite working. I have had the 0xEF release for several days.

Last time I used the above fix (w/0xEF) it worked fine but today, after a reset, it doesn't seem to. Did I miss this elsewhere?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I just checked mine and the led turn off/dim still works fine. I leave mine off all the time and use it as an update notification (since I've never had to do a reset in the 8 weeks I've had this thing)

You might try another red button reset and see if it comes back, or just wait a while (the box could be caught in some sort of loop where it's not processing button input from the front panel), and see if the functionality returns.

Thanks for the thoughts hasan. I usally leave mine off as well but for some reason I am having problems now.

BTW, I have heard you guys talking about a red button reset. Not sure how that is done. I am familiar with all 3 types of resets in software. I have also seen the record button go red at times. I suspect it has something to do with that??

Thanks again.

Glad to try to help.

Red Button Reset: front right panel flip down (access card). There's a little red button. Push it...it will do a hardware reset (like on a computer). You will lose you guide info, but it will repopulate fairly quickly and your Series Links should rebuild.

Just push it and wait, don't be impatient and fiddle around with it while it's trying to reboot. This should be the "first try" thing to do when you are having a recurrent or persistent problem.

oh duh! thanks, you wouldn't know I am a 14 year veteran sys admin, brother :)

Just got this HR20 a few days ago, actually got a second one for free because the first replacement they sent was defective and I have been with DirecTV forever. Now I have two to mess with!

Still frustrated about the "currently no OTA" situation but otherwise things seem pretty good so far. The performance of the HR20 menus is quite allot better than my H10 was.
