NEW YORK, July 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Building on a groundbreaking technology partnership announced earlier this year, LG Electronics and Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) today announced plans for the first Blu-ray disc player that will have the added benefit of being able to instantly stream a growing library of movies and TV episodes from Netflix directly to the TV.

Netflix has been very busy lately. Not sure which will happen first - I drop BlockBuster or BlockBuster drops me (stops service).

I'm not a fan of combining different technologies into a single box. What's the avg life of a DVD player? I seem to replace mine every 2 years. The new LG will probably sell for more than separate Blu-Ray and Netflix boxes.

I've heard it will be $400 - $500, which is about the current price for stand alone BD players.

Additionally, not sure why you've had such trouble with your DVD players, but a good one should last 10+ years.

I have several DVD players around here that have lasted 10+ years.

I think this is an interesting twist and the wave of the future...now all we need is faster internet connections. ;)
