Just as the title says, is this more indicative of LNB failure or need for realignment?

Satellite transponders (11 total at 119º)

Satellite transponders (6 total at 99º(s)) [or 99º(b)]

[Local HD channels for some cities]

9-16 X X X X X X 60 47
17-24 0 0 61 51 0 0 52 46

9-16 58 45 51 44 59 46 X X

Location is Eastern Shore of VA and we have had some high winds lately. HD DNS 392 NBC and 396 Fox were dodgey last week and are gone now. #90 CBS and 394 ABC are fine.

Advice welcomed.

TIA

Realignment, big time. Does not indicate LNB troubles, just very bad aligment especially 99/103. I would try for a very slight azimuth adjustment as that seems to get knocked around easily in the wind.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot this evening.

Definitely looks to be out of alignment .. Make sure to peak 101 first and then use the fine tuning screws to peak 99/103. 119 and 110 should hopefully just fall right into place for you.

Thanks for all the comments. And for the record, this was on two HR21s, so I had eliminated tuner/BBC problems immediately. I should have mentioned that.

Problem was indeed alignment. A couple turns on the AZ adjuster brought everything to right but I noticed the lock nuts were no more than finger tight.

Went back out with a wrench rather than a nutdriver and found the EL locks were loose as well. (insert installer rant as desired)

We'll likely spend the time to tune both this weekend, but AZ alone took the numbers from low or zero to 70+.

Y'all saved me some frustration and a service call.

thanks again,

kim

Again, thanks for the input.

Got home yesterday and tweaked the EL and re-tweaked the AZ. MPEG2 birds and pretty much 90+ across the board and MPEG4 birds are now 80-90+. I might could get higher numbers verifying plumb or tweaking rotation, but it's just not worth the effort right now.

All this because the lock bolts were loose from the initial install. AZ locks were finger tight but EL bolts weren't even close.

Mods: this probably should have been in the installation forum and maybe should be moved there. Your call.

cheers,

kim
