I' m thinking of getting direct TV, however I notice that our Local "Bakersfield Ca." town is not in HD. Does that mean that ABC,CBS and NBC is not HD? If so, would I be better off getting Dish, as it is HD here. This is all new to me...

You will not get them in HD via satellite yet, however they are scheduled for this year. No date announced that I know of.

Maybe you could use an antenna to get those networks in HD!
