I have heard people talking about getting local weather on the 8ths or something like that on the weather Channel and maybe something on active too.

Is this true???

If so, when will this happen???

We're pretty much waiting for it to happen any day now.

You can find the latest on it in this thread:

I never hold my breath with Directv. It's a waste of not breathing! Haha
I just passed out.............................
i just got this email from The Weather Channel! Good News

Hello Mr. Clark,

Thank you for contacting The Weather Channel Interactive.

Our local forecast product meteorologists and developers have created an
interactive application that will provide our DirecTV subscribers with a local
weather product that is very similar to what our cable subscribers view on the
eights of the hour. We anticipate launching the application before the end of
this month (September 2008).

We are always happy to hear from our viewers and hope you will continue to
watch The Weather Channel for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Chris Hoitsma

Speaking of the Active button,I checked the Active channel out a few minutes ago.First time I had viewed that channel in awhile.DirecTV has updated the graphics and re-designed the channel. One thing I noticed. When I pressed the Active button and the channel was loading,it was showing channel 9999 in the banner at the top of the screen. But when I look in the channel guide, channel 9999 does not exist.
Perhaps DirecTV would consider adding channel 9999 to the guide.I imagine alot of folks don't even know the channel exists, and if it was listed in the guide, maybe more people would check it out.

But that's why there is the ACTIVE button on the remote! So you don't have to go to the guide.....:)

Even though I find the active channel mostly a waste, I would prefer if 9999 worked as well. I use a universal remote and refuste to waste a button on the active button. But I would occasionally use 9999 if it worked.
Back When i first got my D* i enjoyed the local wink weather channel they had i belive it was on the 400s channels. when they used the WINK interactive system before they drop Wink and started their own interactive service.
Here is some information about the release of TWC's interactive features. A post earlier in the thread (email from the same person) says this is planned for this Thursday, Sept. 25.

Those of us that visit the forums and threads on here would/should know about this.
But what about the millions of other folks out there that subscribe to DirecTV's services?
I would imagine that there are alot of people out there that don't have a clue what the Active button is for.
:)

I use a Harmony remote, so I have never seen the Active button or tried out the feature...... I guess it is time to dig through the Harmony's menu for the DVR and find it!
