On August 6th, 2002 Dish sent me a letter telling me I can now get my local channels and I would be losing my Distant Network channels in a few weeks. I never got the locals but I still have my distant nets. Are they just slow or have they forgotten about me? I thought I was grandfathered since I have had Dish since Feb of 1997. What is going on, I am afraid to call dish as it might trigger something on their computer system and then they will turn off my distant nets. I do not want to get locals but I do want to change some of my programming.

The two are not connected. If you are qulified for distants you can keep them when your locals become available. You don't say where you are located - are your locals up on dish now? If so you would have to ask for them. Again, if you are entitled to the distants you will not loose them. If not it is possible by calling them you will loose them, but that will most likely happen anyway.

Well they are carrying both the OKC and Tulsa stations now. Unless you are in the Sherman-Ada, Wichita Falls-Lawton, or Amarillo ADIs you could get locals. They probably will not catch it until the next time you change your accout... add/remove service or recievers.

i live in henryetta, ok. and have dallas distant nets waiver approved for fox and nbc only. i signed up for tulsa locals on 31 july when they became available and the only thing the csr said was do you still want the dallas distants and i said yes i do she said ok. i still have them so far.i have been thinking about asking for a second set of distants from LA which i think i am eligible for but havent done it yet. waiver would probably only get approved for fox and nbc again.the reason for doing this would be to get later time frame of broadcast channels and to be able to jump around networks if there is bad weather in dallas or tulsa. i hate those bad weather interuptions every 10 minutes or so.

Since you have already been through the waiver process and got approved for Fox & NBC, they will not need to be submitted again. Just call E* and tell them you want LA Fox & NBC added :)
