I contacted my local PBS station, KVIE, Sacramento.

They said they are ready and willing to send the feed up, but DTV ignored them when lauching HD Locals. They seemed upset and wants DTV to not call them HD Locals unless they carry PBS as well, but since no one has PBS locals, it seems that the pressure is up to us.

What does anyone else know?

I know that D* is experiencing a serious bandwidth crunch, so they are forced to
make some hard decisions. Unfortunately, compromises will continue to be made
until D* gets their new birds launched and on orbit.

I don't know where you are located, but I get my local PBS HD channel, WJCT-HD,
out of Jacksonville, FL on my local Adelphia, now Comcast cable system. I like that
they have HD programming throughout the day, not just during primetime hours.

While PBS-HD is significant...

Based on "viewership" numbers, they trail the other 4-5 networks in a town (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW)

As Nick said; With the current Bandwith situation... they simply can't carry them all yet, so they have to make a decision.

There are some areas that don't even have all of the main 4/5.
Hopefully after the new SATs are launched next year, this won't be an issue any longer
