Does anyone know where I can see if Dish is adding or even has it in their plans to add Springfield, Mass locals to their grid?

Why is a Canadian interested in Springfield, Ma. television stations?:)
Dish uses spot beams. The only ones that will make it into Canada are the border markets like Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo, Rochester, Utica, Burlilngton/Plattsburg etc.
Easiest place to find information on locals is right here on DBSTalk on the EKB (Echostar Knowledge Base)! http://ekb.dbstalk.com/19 specifically contains information on locals. Look for the EKB link at the top, left corner of every DBSTalk page.
http://ekb.dbstalk.com/15 and http://ekb.dbstalk.com/21 are the first places to check on the EKB for new markets. Also keep an eye out for JohnH's Uplink Activity threads here every Tuesday or Wednesday.

So if one of those links lists KDFW and WFAA (currently Distant Network channels out of Dallas) as "Conditional Availiblity" highlighted in a yellow box under my local area stations - will they be added to my local package?
They currently aren't part of the local package.
No

I take it you are part of the Sherman TV market?

And I am pretty sure that they are only available as "distant networks" and not as "locals" or even SV at the moment

EDIT...

Yup, Distant nets only... look at the info below the channels:

Sherman/Ada CBS & NBC $3.99
Qualifying subscribers ABC OR Fox from Dallas + Serman/Ada NBC/CBS $4.99
Qualifying subscribers ABC AND Fox from Dallas + Serman/Ada NBC/CBS $5.99
Qualifying Subscribers PBS will receive the Dallas PBS affiliate or National PBS at no additional cost to all three packages.

The "Qualifying subscribers" part used to link tot he old address broker site. I guess I will fix that eventually.

The ABC and Fox stations will be GONE on Dec 1 since they are NOT considered SV. If they were SV Greg says with authority that they would be gone too, but Charlie Ergen the CEO of Dish would disagree.

Also the channels available as "SV" are in GRAY on the locals page, not yellow.

Yep. I currently get them but they are listed as "Distant Network" channels according to the Dish Network site. I'm hoping they didn't list them as locals because they wanted to make them available to everyone as "Distant Network" channels and they'll add them to the Sherman TV market when the Distant go. *sigh* probably a pipe dream.
