I have a consistent lockup whenever I watch a video that has been recorded. When it gets to the end of the recording, and it says delete now, or save, if I click delete, it acts like it is going back to the guide and shows live picture in the upper left, but nothing else on the screen and the remote won't change anything. I have to reset every time, (I have let it sit for 30 minutes before and it still never came back)
It happens 100% of the time if I wait before selecting delete, (ie: I am preoccupied so I don't hit delete immediately.)
Is this a known problem? I am not sure if it has been happening since day one, but it has been happening for at least the last 2 weeks.

We had that happen one time about three weeks ago under 0xE3 after watching an MPEG2 SD recording. Hasn't happened again. Have you tried to do a complete reformat of the box? It might be worth it if you're having so many troubles.

I have had this kind of screen pop up, but not from deleting a recording, just moving around in the menus. I have not seen it under this version of the software, but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened again.

Although I'm not sure if she left it on the delete screen for very long like you did. I'll have to ask her. However, this does sound like the same issue. Were you recording anything when it happened???

I've had this happen to me (one lockup since 0xEF, many prior). Seems to happen more often when I'm recording two shows.

Haven't correlated with how long I've left the prompt up, but I'll try that out.

Yes EXACTLY like that. I don't know if it is happening when recording a show, but it does it EVERY time if I click delete from the two options that pop up at the end of playing back a recording.
Trying to figure out if it is problem with the unit or one of the many "known" issues that are being worked on by DTV...

Well I was able to recreate a lockup tonight. I went through a bunch of 30 minute Jeopardy episodes that I wasn't ever going to watch anyway, and fast forwarded through them at 4x, and letting it sit at the end for a minute or two. Four in a row went fine when I selected delete. Then I went to play the 5th, and I get a screen with the playlist and a gray preview window in the top right. Fully locked up.

I think stressing it with all the play/delete/play/delete nuked it. :lol:

I've noticed mine does this when I am recording a show and watching another. I get to the end of the show I'm watching and while still recording the other show, i hit "delete now" and then i get the blue screen like it's going to show my list with the small preview screen in the top right.

Luckily this is my only issue that is really pissing me off and it seems like we've isolated the problem. Could a fix be not far off?

UPDATE:
I talked to my wife about this and she gave me the details. She's the primary user of this HR20. Anyway, she said that she didn't let it stay on the "delete now" screen for more than a second. However, she said that the times that it has locked up like this was on a non-padded recording. When it reaches the end of the show and it prompts you to delete or not, if you hit yes, then it would freeze the HR20. Of course, it doesn't every time. However... we USUALLY record padded shows and delete them by hitting info, more info and choosing delete. That might be why it has only happened to us about three times. So for now, as a work around, when it asks to delete, we'll say "no" and delete it later...

Earl, I hope the above info is useful for you to give your contacts at D*. D*, I hope you also are reading this thread. I think we're onto something here!

i've had this same exact problem several times. Although i've upgraded to OxFA now, and I haven't had this in two days (knock on wood).... I'll let you know if it comes back!

Same issue here. At the end of a recording I let it go to the "Delete now" prompt and selected "Yes". First time I have done this since FA came out. I could do nothing. The unit would not respond to any commands. Finally had to red-button it. When it came back up everything was fine. This is the first time this has happened to me, but also the first time after receiving FA that I have let a recording go to the "Delete now" prompt at the end.
