Since receiving the 0251 update, I have had to reboot my HR20-100 no less than 6 times (I think it is actually seven now) because it locks up.

Half the time, the lockups are there when I turn on the TV. The other half seems to occur when I pause and resume a recorded show.

I restarted during the 0254 CE Saturday night and managed to bring down the CE release (which is where it still is) and I have had almost two days without a lockup, until right now (currently rebooting).

Very frustrating and somewhat annoying (as I'm sure I am sometimes).

Anyone else?

You know that software release was withdrawn almost immediately, don't you? I bet if you did a forced software upgrade right now it would take you back to 0235. Or you might want to try the CE candidate this Friday/Saturday.

The only slowdown I ever had was with 0251. I got rid of that turkey. Reminded me of Windows ME.

0235 is locking up, too. It started about the time 0250 became available. Either lots of people received 0250 but the version number wasn't updated or something changed in the stream for 0250 that 0235 receivers don't like.

^ I saw your post over in another thread that said you're going on your third box in a year. guins. That seems really high to me. If I was experiencing that kind of failure rate with any electronics - forget DirecTV - I'd look for an additional cause.

I'm not going to give you the "mine works great" routine because that's not the case. I've had problems myself, but they have been minor and transitory. But if I got three flats in a year with my car, I wouldn't buy the same brand of tire one more time. And with the case of DirecTV, I'm still on my first DVR, now 10 months since delivery. I've come to the opinion that my box is, in general, pretty reliable. I would be sorry if it died.

If I was you, I'd look towards your installation, cabling or set-up. Most plane crashes aren't caused by just one problem. It is ususally a series of failures that creates them. I'd look for a series of failures in your system.

I'm beginning to think the same thing.

I've had more lockups and sluggish remote issues in the last week than I've had in the last year in total.

This is getting crazy...

AFAIK, lockups seem to only affect the UI. Of course I'm not sure about that, because the 7 or 8 lockups I experienced happened during times no recordings were going on.

So, can anyone report what happens when your HR2x locks up and a recording starts or is in progress?

Without knowing, I would suggest waiting until the record time is over and then restarting, but so far no reports of what really happens.

I can tolerate a GUI lockup now and then (assuming it gets fixed in a reasonable time frame) but I would have a hard time with it were it also skunking my recordings.

Well that makes sense, you'd never get an answer like that from a CSR!:hurah:

Well my Hr20-100 started locking up last night for the 1st time. Ive had it for 6 months. It froze4 times in less than 2 hours and had to do the red button reboot.

I woke up this morning and turned on my tv and the DVR was in the middle of a reboot.

I will not keep this box. it will get sent back.

Funny thing, this is exactly what my hr10-250 was doing and why I got rid of it in the first place.

Last week I went to watch "So You Think You Can Dance" while it was still recording (was about 40 minutes in). Initially it froze the picture, but I was able to get back to the Now Playing screen. I tried to play the recording again and only got a blank screen this time. I went to live TV and could see there was a picture on the channel and it showed recording in progress so I figured I would wait until the show ended and then reboot. When I have had black screens in the past, they always came back after a reboot. Meanwhile, I went back to the list and played another already recorded show which worked fine.

When SYTYCD was done recording, I rebooted, but still could only get a black screen. And because I rebooted I also lost the Live TV buffer so I was hosed.
