Ok I just made a run from my house to my detached 2 car garage. I had left over cable from last year when they ran new lines and set up for whole home DVR service. I have the Swm setup. If I were to guess the run has to be 50' to 75'. I put a H24 in the garage. Now it works for most channels but some give the 771 error so they are not getting the signal strong enough. I went to my local Radio Shack and put the long run inline amp for satellite service figuring that would do the trick. When I put that in the line it basically killed any signal I had. I pulled it out and the same partial/spotty signal came back. What could I do to boost the signal? Is it possible I just have a defective in-line amp? or do these not work with my setup?

Please help and many thanks in advance!!

An amp not designed for SWM is unlikely to pass the 2.3 MHz control channel required for the receivers to communicate with the LNB or SWM module.

You say 50 to 70 ft to the garage, but what is the length from the dish all the way to the garage?

What size splitter do you have?

Is it RG6 heading to the garage?

You may be able to get it to work temporarily by unplugging every receiver and the PI for the dish. Wait a minute and then plug the PI in. Plug the garage receiver in and wait for it to boot up completely. Plug in the rest of the receivers. This would be only a temporary work around, if it works at all.

Something like this might work, if you're not getting any 771A messages: http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.as...ine-Amp-with-12V-200mA-Transformer-(LA141R-T)
