Long term costs

What are the long term D* costs. The current offers and 12 month charges are pretty clear, but then what? For example, it looks like the 54.99 pkg jumps up to 74.99. Not too bad, especially after all the rebates etc...
Fast forward to the 24 month point. The commitment is up, any incentives there, or is it 74.99 forever?

Yea it sounds like 74.99 plus annual price increase unless you change the programing package or equipment.

standard prices (At this time) are
Family 29.99
Choice 52.99
Choice Extra 57.99
Premier 104.99
Plus DVR 62.99
(Choice Extra and DVR service)
Plus HD DVR 72.99
(Choice Extra, HD, DVR)
You can change packages at any time.
Discounts for signing up are usually 1 year.
standard rcvrs carry 18 month agreement
Advanced Rcvrs carry 24 month agreement
each month = $20

prices do change about 1 time a year (In Feb/Mar)
good customers can ask for additional discounts after 1st year.

I wonder if you get a programming commitment if are a new customer who has either purchased online or from a private party an old DirecTV receiver and dish and wishes to activate service at the regular price with no "perks" and no installer visit required.

A have a bunch of old receivers (including a D11 and D10) which I own that got upgraded to DVR's. I also have a collection of dishes that used to come for free when you bought a receiver. I also have a friend who would like DirecTV but no commitment due to his situation.

Anyone do this recently?

as long as the rcvr is owned, and not active, it can be activated on an account with no agreement. You may need new cards. and remember when calling to activate ask for the access card team.

Is that activated on an EXISTING account with no commitment? I thought I have read on this board that DirecTV does not set up NEW accounts with previously owned equipment. I'm sure there will be those that have done that, but is that within or against their current policy?
If the rcvr is owned by the previous party then no commitment should be applyed (just make sure you say its owned and talk to access card). You can't sell a leased rcvr, you have to return it.
