My folks live in the east valley (mesa). My dad is getting my mom one the 20" Humax TV’s with he built in DIRECTV receiver. He wants to get the H20 as well. They do currently subscribe. They have an E86 and Hughes gold.

The room that the H20 is going into has one coax, it needs a second. That will not be that difficult as it is on an outside wall but, the Humax is going into the kitchen. This will require going into the attic, and then fishing the coax into the kitchen. They will need the most up-to date dish as well.

They have a very nice home and are very particular to keeping it nice. I live in OR and will not be down there for quite some time. They are looking at an install date of the week of Jan. 11th.

Any suggestions of a really good installer would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

No personal experience with installers other than Ironwood which does DTVs installs. As far as Ironwood's crew goes, I've had them out 4 times to properly gound my dish. The last guy got the wire installed and grounded it to the PVC pipe that feeds my Qwest service. That's a ground you can depend on.

Oh, and the grounding rod for the house is only 8 inches from where the Qwest service comes in.

You know you made me laugh Wolf:grin:

Ill check for somebody in AZ again for you guys that gets a seal of approval. That alone (approval of mine) is to be honest a hard thing to reckin . (Ill let Wolf Know if i come up with someone and he can pass it on)

Wolf when you gonna just ground the thing yourself?( i sent you a schematic remember?.) Never mind if i know and Feel you like always, well HAVE fun with "the ironwood toys" and make those idiots PAY w/ truck rolls till it gets done right then!;)

(You always make me smile when i drop by here Btw. Then i go read ALL these install nightmares and mess , talk about somebody siting here and shaking their head But yet it just continues and continues to be a racket based whole construed concept by the nations #1 program provider. Just Crazy and to be honest i cant help BUT laugh at this mess i read in here then i go to a home and see it ALL the time too. So its Not just a local /my state thing this mess is coast to coast.
(= "will train, no experience necessary,") Lmao "just get it working".. man oh man. And as in another post here i made today its all promoted as some farce 'they" call "Professional installation.". OK Then?!?! Swamp land anybody? Funny thing is that MOST of the patrons of the service just know when the TV shows a picture and has no clue about the NEC code and the proper install methods. Id love to know out of all the subscribers Just how many are installed properly. Wild guess in the last 2 some odd yrs of installs i can almost surely say without a figure one in hand that that percentage is Very very low.
Rate drops for technicians, the monopoly racket was contrued with NO BID contracts, a mass exodus of seasoned techs, and Now you have a bunch of New trainees and Left overs 'cause Not a technician one by definition will step Near D* and their install programs. I will also say there IS a nation wide Black ball that has a label put on these so called techs as Not to hire the "traders" no matter what.= " MSP/ HSP .. Nah.. go some where else Son Your not welcome here!"

Who suffers? well i read it Here every time i come here to this forum. Every time! That would be the PAYING Patrons of a CONTRACT based service. IS this RIGHT?

Just for effect, here is how it actually looks after 4 trips out by Ironwood. Oh, also forgot to put in the pics that the ground wire appears to be 16 gauge solid core. I was thinking at least 12. As far as the cable drip loops go shouldn't there be a loop before the grounding block and after the grounding block? Plus shouldn't the grounding block be mounted vertical to lessen the amount of water that could get into the connection?

Oh, I also forgot to mention the spare equipment left by one of the installers. The barrel connector on the right side of the shot.

You're lucky, all I got as spares were some lag screws (the ones he didn't install).

It looks like there is a drip loop in the cables. It also looks like installation on a stucco wall is possible after all.

When the house was built they backed that area with 2x6's. Nice to have a prewired house. Although I never did check to see if the installer used the area of the wall with the 2x6's. DOH!

Yes, there is a drip loop after the barrel ground but rain gets funneled into the top of that ground.

I knew if i came back through tonight there would a hell of a laugh for me waiting.

What a picture WOLF. And this is after 4 trips and how many of those Were Specifically due to your calls over improper/no grounding.?

So now , i see a Copper H20 pipe clamp grounded to PVC THIS time. (lol) I cant help it ..what a laugh.

Like i said in the other post . Just ask the guy for a ground lug and some gr wire and tell him you'll do it & to go make you a hamburger.:p

PS: On second thought, Keep those SOB's driving for me!;) & tooo too funny!

next time ask them how long they've been doing the job. National adds By D* push you straight to the HSp's> "NO experience necessary and will train". Well, i know for a Fact that the training in film rooms/classes in not occurring at certain offices and that the "new recruits" are thrown in a van due to lack of techs and no time to train properly and ride with some other puppy that has no clue to start with to learn from. = the ride along program and the "blind leading the blind. (lol).

That pic above and the Multiple trips says it all. =They dont Know, are untrained (the whole ph line mess is Real scary as a fact btw to every hm owner in this country ) and in Wolfs case deal with the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE. Yeah come mess with my life support ph line, my alarm, and then my Tv and a Overall grounding fire issue with a drill bit in your hand. Then read and told that you have "professional installation". Well in any other trade i think a journey man includes a ladder of tenure and progression to be called professional, Not from D* it doesnt any more. It means > have a Drivers licence? Legal citizen? can you WALK?... Ok Your Hired! (lol) and now your a professional in less than 3 weeks!
HELLO!??!? what truth.

4 Trips = Original install and 3 more just for the ground. One trip he didn't do a thing but said he did. I was stupid and didn't check. Why would he lie?
