No, these channels are not available on Dish Network yet.
With a couple of exceptions the only HD locals Dish provides are from the big 4 networks ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.
KTLA and KCAL will come in just fine in HD on your receiver, OTA.

Unfortunately, I'm in the hills and can't receive any stations ota. It sure would be nice to get KCAL and KTLA in HD, especially KCAL which carries both the Dodgers and Lakers.

It silly that these 2 stations aren't carried by Dish in LA... These two stations show Dodgers, Lakers, and Clippers games in HD! All Lakers and Dodgers games on KCAL are in HD... Diretcv has them all in HD.. For some reason, they even have KCOP 13... not sure why, they never show anything in HD, including Angeles games....

And there are a lot of places in LA that can't receive OTA signals... and in LA, those channels are as important as the big 4...

Yeah, that pretty much sucks. Here in the Bay Area, some Giants games are being carried by the NBC affiliate and NBC network shows are being shunted off to an SD (on Dish) sister station. People watch CBS shows, so I don't see KCBS and KCAL swapping off like that.
Back when I was still deciding on which DBS providers, KCAL and KTLA in HD were the only channels that had me looking at D*. Let's hope their on E* soon.
I agree on the KCAL, KTLA! I would also like to add KCET(PBS). It would surprise a lot of people how many of us LA people do not have an OTA option. If it was not for cable or SAT 1/4 of the LA market would not have any TV.
Agreed! KCAL and KTLA are 2 of the most popular non-big 4 network (KCAL owned by CBS and KTLA by Tribune) stations not only because of the sports, but the VERY popular KTLA Morning News and KCAL's many HD newscasts throughout the day, and even the big PBS station (there are 4 PBS staions in the LA metro area) KCET 28 with the extremely popular Huell Howser continuing to amaze us with all we don't know about LA. I'm so glad I can get KCAL OTA.

I have relatives with the same problem of living on the side of a hill where it is IMPOSSIBLE to get ANY of the transmissions from Mt. Wilson. They had no choice but cable, then switched to the superior satellite, and they like their CW programs, but are not pleased that KTLA is not in HD via satellite as that is the only way they will ever enjoy Smallville, etc. in HD.

Yes, billions of years of earthquakes have created endless numbers of hills and several mountain ranges. Although Mount Wilson provides the perfect location for transmitters (we don't have to rotate our OTA antennas as every station that matters--and even the few that don't--are all on Mount Wilson), if you live within the shadow of a mound of earth or rock between you and Mount Wilson, you are stuck with pay TV and no OTA.

The problem now is that Dish is in a pinch for bandwidth, although Dish could add KCAL, KTLA, and KCET if it wanted, but they want more DMA in HD not more channels on DMA's already served. Satellite isn't mandated to add these additional channels for years, but with enough emails to Dish, they may consider it.

One more hindrance to adding KCAL and KTLA at this time is that both channels know how valuable they are with the content they have and want quite a lot of money for carriage. KTLA is Tribune's goose laying the golden eggs. When the local retrans agreement for KCBS comes up, expect CBS to demand that KCAL be uplinked as well. And when the Fox retrans comes up, we might see KCOP, 13 (Fox's other station in LA) to be provided as well.

Let's keep nagging Dish so that they feel it is worth paying the extra $$$.
