Losing ABC

The western half of the Terre Haute, IN DMA will be losing ABC on Friday, December 1st--not only on Dish Network but also on Mediacom Cable.

Mediacom is having a dispute for retransmission with Sinclair Broadcasting in several states. Sinclair owns WICD 15 the ABC affiliate in Champaign. With Dish losing distant networks, viewers can't get an out of market ABC station since their local DMA doesn't have one. Those that have Directv can still receive a distant ABC from New York and Los Angeles. However, Directv does not offer Terre Haute locals.

Other parts of the Terre Haute DMA receive WRTV Indianapolis and WEHT Evansville. They won't be affected with losing ABC via cable.

Sinclair & Mediacom will probably reach a deal just before or just after the deadline. In the long run, Sinclair has to have its stations on cable in order to keep its network affiliation at contract renewal time. End of story!
