Hi guys/gals...

Here is a weird one...

I have a H-20 receiver that has been cutting out intermittently over the last 3 days...Loses HD and SD channels(all of them) but OTA is ok..Upstairs H-20 is fine...Checked connections, reset etc..still happens. I did not check the Multiswitch yet, could it be that or the receiver itself?

Thanks!

You should first check the signal strength on all sats on both receivers. If they are good, it may be a bad cable, BBC, Multiswitch, or receiver.

Try swapping the two Receivers. If the "bad" Receiver works upstairs, but the "good" Receiver doesn't work downstairs, then something is wrong with the satellite signal feeding that room. If the "bad" Receiver is still defective upstairs, then you know you have defective Receiver.

I've also been having issues over the last couple of days. First it was my R-15. I did a reset last night and everything was good...until this morning. It was back to "searching for satellite".

Then, my wife called me at work this morning and said that one of our two HR20-100's was now doing the same thing. I had her reset it, but it didn't fix the issue.

I'll investigate it further this afternoon when I get home from work and will report back what I find. I'll be sure to check the signal meter...

I called into tech support and they had me swap the satellite feeds on both the HR20-100 and the R15-300 that was reporting a "searching for satellite" error. I don't know why, but that cleared up the issue.

Can anyone explain why this worked? I thought that I would still receive the error, but on the other tuner.

those are both 2 tuner units. were you getting SFSS on sat 1

Sat 1 must have a signal for the unit to work

Ok, tech came by today, replaced multi-switch..so far-so good...Thanks!!!
Good to hear it works.

Swapping the receivers showed you there was a problem with the signal to that room?

Hey guys/gals...

An update to this..seems replaceing the multi-switch did not help, soooo, last Sat a "lead tech" and a helper came out...says that my LNB's and dish bracket were loose..?? Seemed to do everything except replace the cable (10 yrs old) and...did not replace the receiver..He kinda wanted to replace the cable, but my spouse would not allow it (the 1st tech made a mess and it is a scuttle attic as well)..

To make a loong story short, I called DTV later Saturday (same prob existed) and told them of my plight, a case management person called back, but my wife got to him 1st...After a few minutes, I came to the phone and demanded a new HD receiver to replace this one..He says ok (my spouse must have really let him have it..)

Today I get a new H-21, of course w/o OTA built in...(It seems to be working ok, so far)...I called DTV to activate it earlier today and I asked him about the lost OTA locals w/o the H-20 I had..get this..he says there are no sub channels, no PBS HD after Feb 2009? I respectfully disagreed with the guys when he further stated that there was no upgrade to the H-21 as well..? (AM-21)..He has a supv call back and told me the same thing. I flat disagreed w/him (I work for a major TV mfg)..After 5 min, he says he will ck further and c/b. Lo and behold, he found about the AM-21!!! (He says he had seen it before on his workshhet, but did not know what it was..) He also stated it was $50.00 and he thought they were now available(?)..He says he will c/b on that one...

Oh, well, the spouse is happy, for now!!;)

Did you get an H21 HD Receiver, or an HR21 HD DVR? The AM21 is not supported on the H21 HD Receiver, at least not yet.

10 year old cable should be replaced. Especially when somebody offers to do it for free. What kind of mess did the first tech make? Dont you have a broom? Cant stand when women order around.

indoor cable replaced? Why? I can understand replacing outdoor cable...

We had just painted inside the house a few months ago and the tech left a lot of greasy hand smudges...I know, probably no way to get around that, but to not have the set working AND DTV wants to send ANOTHER tech out? I can see why my spouse was upset.
