That looks like a video signal loss problem between the receiver and the TV. Are you using HDMI? It could be a cable/connector issue, maybe one of the pins is occasionally losing contact.996911 said:

All the inputs on my TV work just fine (D*SD box, Blu-Ray Player) as do the inputs for all so I have been able to rule out the TV.
The funniest part though is the HR20 still sends a perfectly fine audio signal out so I can hear the program but the video is just the multicolored screen. I attached a picture to illustrate what I am talking about.
I have had the box for almost a year now so this happening twice is not enough for me to send back for replacement. If it starts to happen at shorter and shorter intervals then I'll talk to D* about replacement.
Just trying to figure out if anybody else has experienced this and/or if they learned what it is.
Thanks so much for any insight!
Yes, using HDMI. All cable have been checked at their connection and they are solid as a rock. Plugged in correctly.texasbrit said:That looks like a video signal loss problem between the receiver and the TV. Are you using HDMI? Different as in another HDMI cable or as in tried another cable type for the connection?jdspencer said:Have you tried a different cable?
I think this might be the answer. The box seems to have a mind of its own sometimes.DarinC said:I think the HDMI outputs are just a little flaky in these. I have an HR20-100 hooked up to a Samsung plasma, and an HR20-200 hooked up to a Sony RPTV, both via HDMI. I've learned on the HR20-100 to put it in standby when I'm not using it... if I leave it on and just turn off the TV, I come back to a DirecTV screen saver with a magenta background (instead of black). Changnig channels continues with way screwed up colors. Cycling the HR in and out of standby fixes it. The HR20-200 has had a couple occasions where video and audio will cyclicly lose sync... I'll get about a second of video and audio, and a couple seconds of nothing. Cycling through standby fixes that too, and rewinding shows it wasn't the recording, just the output that screwed up. Both of these TVs work fine with other inputs.
Certainly a nuisance, but at least my issues don't require a RBR.
There are HDMI HDCP test channels at 100, 200, 488 and 500. If your setup is HDCP compliant, you will see a picture, if not, you get a message. Everytime I have tuned to one of those channels, I get the snowy picture within 12 hours.996911 said:What is the HDMI channel?
