media share format for video

Ive looked around for some info but not had much luck so figured I'd ask here.
I have an HR20 and just recently started hooking it up to a network and have Media Share available. Anyway what Im wanting to do convert some of the HD OTA video files, as well as other vid files, I have recorded or saved so they play via media share. Ive read that the movies need to be in Mpeg 2 format and I can get the video but no audio. Is there a good site or guide for converting video's so they will play right via media share?
Any help would be appreciated in this

I have found that MPEG2 Transport Stream (TS) works best.
What converter program do you use? Also do I need to change the extention for Media share to see/play it. I came across a post somewhere else that mentioned needing to do so but was very vague on the subject
I use MPEG Streamclip except for converting MPEG4 to MPEG2. For that I use ffmpegX (an OS X application).
Okay I found mediastream for windows. Now then when I make a TS file do I need to change the extension to mpg on the final file for mediashare to see and play it like I read somewhere else or can mediashare on the HR20 see it with the TS extention?

Yes, you will need to change the extemsion to .mpg or .mpeg so the HR20 will recognize it.
