Metro Atlanta - new customers still getting 1000.2 dish

One of my neighbors recently upgraded to satellite (he had been rabbit ears up until now) an he went with Dish with a HD package. He has good line of sight across the entire southern arc, and I noticed they installed a 1000.2 dish. Given the reported problems I hear about the 129 location and it lower elevation angle, I am a little surprised they did not use the 61.5 feeds (local HDs for Atlanta are now also on 61.5) and a 2 dish install. As a brand new customer he would have been a perfect fit for the 1000.4 eastern arc, but that is not yet offerable for this area. I guess if he has problems with 129, he can switch to a 1000.4 at a later time.

when was he installed?
A lot of the installers don't have the new dish yet, others may not want to get them until they have been out for a bit, and still others don't check their updates and are not aware there is a new dish. Could be one of these reasons, but two week ago was very close to the 1000.4 dish release date.
My point was they did not point to 61.5 for the HDs. I guess it is a cost issue but I would think a Dish 500 for 110/119 and another dish pointed at 61.5 would be the preferred/recommended installation for this area. I see a lot of those set ups driving around. 129 is very low in the sky and I read in this forum it can have variable signal strength.

Probably, but Atlanta isn't one of the initial markets getting that dish (those are in the press release and marked as (EA) at http://www.dishuser.org/hdlocal.php). Agreed on 61.5 vs 129 for that area.
