For those who don't know who Charles Simonyi is, he is the father of Microsoft Office applications. He joined Microsoft when it had 40 employees and who helped set its technical strategy for years. to joining Microsoft Simonyi worked at Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), developing Bravo -- the first WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor which became the first version of Microsoft Word (released on the Macintosh).

What is important about Charles is that he came up with the idea of naming conventions in programing. If you have ever heard of Variable Names and Hungarian Notation, he was the guy who came up with them. As any programer will attest to, naming conventions are very important.
