Finally because it was not pretty when they played my Falcons! And they are still trying to develop as a team. Hopefully the Lions will do better with all that talent they have!!

Why would you want him back.He did nothing before.
I can agree with that point. But since Millen was running the show for Detroit, what coach has managed to do anything?Whoever gets the job, things should be very different with Millen out of the way now.
There are all sorts of "cancer" within all organizations.Whether it is the head coach, coaching staff, general manager, upper management ( owners ) and of course, the players.More times than not,the head coach turns out to be the fall guy when things go badly for franchises.
IMO,Millen pretty much ruined the Lions franchise.
At any rate,I'm amazed he lasted as long as he did in Detroit.
I definitely agree with tfederov in the OP,good riddance to him. :)

Millen is gone!! Millen is gone!
Good riddance.
Well congrats to you, tfederov.
I'm very happy for you.

Think the tip of the iceberg was an interview Monday where the owner's son basically said "I'd have fired him awhile ago, but I can't".

Funny that my blackhawks lost "Dollar" Bill Wirtz and you lost Matt Millen within one year.

Maybe when hell freezes over!!!

Oh wait ... the Cubs are in the playoffs ... If they win the world series, hell should be frozen solid by the end of October.

Maybe you have a chance after all.

What a pathetic run the Lions had under his guidance! :(

Don't forget that the only constant for the Lions for over 40 years, other than loosing, has been the owner. Time to pass the baton to somebody else with perhaps better ideas and a more positive influence on the team.

I don't disagree that Millen had earned a firing... but after being surprised he hadn't been fired a couple of years ago I was fired to see him fired this year.

Meanwhile... it's not like the Lions have actually been very good during my 38 years on the planet really. Outside of fun watching Barry Sanders when he played, when was the last time (under any coach or GM) the Lions were dependably good?

This seems to be systemic, and you kind of have to blame ownership for a combination of:

A. Making poor choices.

and

B. Sticking with those poor choices far too long before making a change.
