This is a simple Windows Gadget that will allow you to change the channel from your PC.

DirecTV Mini Remote.gadget

The [CLR] key will clear out anything you've entered so far.

You can also type a channel number directly into the text box and press [ENTER] to change the channel.

Please let me know if you find any bugs or would like more features.

Has anyone tried this out or is there no interest in a gadget like this?

I can make it do a lot more but I don't want to waste my time if no one is going to use it.
If you click on his link from "Chrome" it will download a file onto your computer. I never heard of this before and don't see why I would want to change channels from my computer.
i mentioned in the release thread that it does work, and thanks for sharing. personally, i have no use for it.

As it should. You would then Open the file to install it.

Right, it is new.

When I posted the AutoTune gadget last week there was a request to add the ability to change channels directly within it. This gadget provides that functionality seperately.

I can make this one do a lot more: Pause, Play, FF, REF, Rec, etc. But I don't want to if no one sees any interest.

This is a different gadget, and a different release thread. ;)
I would only use something like this as a stop-gap measure until my replacement remote arrives after I lost it or it ceased working.
I use it daily.

I often find myself in the kitchen around the start of the Mets ballgame and it nice to have my HR34 Autotune to the game from the news show I had on.

I'm not a Steve Jobs fan. I sort of doubt that he would have ever considered any of his ideas a waste of time. Whether or not I found a use for them. Your stuff is interesting, go ahead and piss on a tire.

Ah, so it is. :blackeye:
I use the Autotune and would occasionally use the Keypad feature. However, I'd rather see them merged into one gadget to reduce desktop real estate. . . even making it smaller.
I probably won't use this gadget, but could you post a link to the Autotune gadget? That sounds like something I would like.

When the request to add the keypad came in I thought it better to make a seperate gadget. But I see your point. Maybe I can make one gadget with several tabs. How does that sound?

Regarding it being smaller, I don't think I can reduce it much. You know you can shrink it down when not in use, right?

I like the idea, but it wouldn't work for me as I have no idea what channels are what and don't think I've ever entered a channel number directly..

Now, if it had list and guide, it would be very useful for me.

Do you mean just add
  • and [GUIDE] buttons? I could do that.
list, guide, up, down, select, ff, play
Okay.
Would be nice to be able to enter multiple IP addresses to create a list of receivers to pick from before changing channel etc. But then again that might make it too easy to mess with the other viewers in household as they watch live TV.

Having 3 active myself, I agree.

Then there's that.
