Missing Guide Data when using "info" on the channel name

2284 Views 25 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  veryoldschool
Each week I review the premium channel movie offerings by selecting "info" while the channel name is highlighted in the guide. This brings up a listing of the programming for only that station for the next two weeks. Recently, I've noticed larger and larger gaps are appearing in these selected guides. For most of the premium stations tonight, next Monday was either missing or showed only a few hours of programming.

Are others experiencing this issue? Is there a way to resolve it?

Mine goes out to 2/23 7:45 PM on the channels I checked with nothing missing in between. On which channels are you experiencing problems.
It's only when I've highlighted the channel name and press the "info" button. It seems to vary. Yesterday, 552 skipped nearly all Monday movies (no programming shown), while today the Monday morning schedule is displayed, but the guide jumps from 12:30 p.m. Monday to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday (2/14). The guide itself goes out to the afternoon of 2/24, but I've not checked for further omissions. The problem seems to affect all the channels I'm reviewing (the premium movie channels). The omissions are not consistent from channel to channel.
Try restarting your receiver 2 times within 30 minutes. This will flush the guide cache and download it again from the satellites.

I have No Gaps in mine. I wonder when was the last time your DVR had a Software Update.

Can you check your Settings Screen to see when the last time your DVR was Updated?
Is everyone understanding the issue the OP has? I see it too, on all 3 of my units. If you actually use the guide and keep scrolling right, there are no gaps until you get out to the aprox 2 week range. But if you bring up the guide, scroll to the left to highlight the channel name, then press info, and start scrolling down to future dates/times, you may find a missing chunk like the OP is referring to.

There is gap right now in the info guide data for 244, it shows 100 Feet from 0830-1030 on 2/13, then Star Trek at 1200 on 12/16. Using the regular guide and scrolling right shows 100 Feet, then Haunting in Connecticut, etc...no gaps
Exactly! It's not the "normal" guide that has gaps. It is the "info" guide after highlighting the channel name that has the gaps. It's been occurring for a while and appears to be getting worse.

Thanks CCarncross for understanding my issue.
I can't get this to work any more on the new gui. I seem to remember it working before on the old gui, but didn't use this option very often. When I left over to the channel on the guide screen and select it, nothing happens.
Oh, my bad. Missed the info button part. Both ways only went out to Sunday 2/26 for Syfy and other channels I looked at. Not 2 full weeks, but far enough for me anyway.
I haven't seen that, but I've seen a problem where using search I get a result and when I select the result there are no shows listed. However, if I know the date and time of the show, I go and look for it in the guide. It is always there and I set it to record that way. This has happened multiple times since the HDGUI update.

If resetting twice will fix that, I'll do it. However, it's not that the guide data isn't populated. It's that search can't find what's in the guide data.
Look carefully at a 5 or 6 screens, you may see that it jumps from one day/time to another, with potentially large gaps

I had the same issue last night. I searched for "Game of Thrones." The search indicated no shows were listed. I did the same search on my other HD-DVR and it displayed all the upcoming episodes in the next two weeks. Very goofy.
Mine has always done this, old guide and new IIRC.
It was a problem with the old software, but it seems markedly worse now.
I've spent a bit more time with my 21-100 DVR. It appears that guide data (using the info-press-on-highlighted-channel-number) is missing for most of a 24-hour period about two to two and one-half days out. It's not consistent among all the premium channels, but all, or most of, Sunday's programming is missing from most of the channels as I check on Thursday. After that, the programming information appears complete for the remaining two weeks of guide data.

My 20-100 and 20-700 DVRs are also missing most of Sunday's programming now. I didn't check further out in the guide, but expect the data after Sunday is also in those two receivers.

Has the new software inadvertantly programmed a "hole" in the guide data two days from the point of review? Who at D* would even understand the question? Most readers of this forum seem unaware of the method I'm using to access guide information. I don't think the CSRs at D* would be more familiar with the procedure.

Which premium channels?
I did a quick check of 501, and didn't see a problem.
Have you done a double reboot [twice within 30 mins] to dump the guide data cache? Of course it will take time to rebuild.

I restarted the DVR once, but not twice. I'll try that. When you say that you did not see a problem, were you looking at the "normal" guide or the "info button pressed on channel name guide?" I have no issues with the "normal" guide, only with the latter. And yes, 501, and all other premiums, are missing data. I haven't checked, but I'd bet all stations are missing data when viewed in the "individual channel guide" manner.

But I will try the double reboot. The thing is, two days ago, Sunday's data was displayed, while most of Friday's was missing.

Additional: All three DVRs are exhibiting the same behavior. My guess is most customers will see the same issue if they use that guide.

I do know how you were checking, and did it for 501.
It is correct for over a week here.

Very strange. Odd that all three of my DVRs are acting the same way. I'll let you know how the main one looks after the second reboot. It may not be done before I leave for lunch.

Thanks for checking your machine.
No improvement, perhaps worse after double reboot. Channel 515, Cinemax East, jumps from Sat 2/18 at 11:50 p.m. to Tuesday 2/21 at 9:00 a.m.
