The guide is showing the game is supposed to be in HD on channel 739-1 but all I get is a blank screen. The SD channel is on. Is anybody getting the game on the HD channel?

Thanks for the confirmation.

If you had (simply?) checked the schedule, you would have found that that game today was:

1. In SD only, no HD feed

2. Reasons for (1) are that the Chicago part of the game was broadcast by a local Chicago station, and both not part of the EI system (and probably not in HD although I didn't check out that stations site, but the WhiteSox web page doesn't list it as HD.

3. The Toronto feed of the game (Canadian) was SD only, no HD.

So, there was no HD feed for EI/DirecTV to 'grab' for re-transmission. They were lucky to have the deal with TSN to get the SD feed, anyway.

The 'blank' HD channel was simply an error on the part of the EI folks, although the schedule (available a week in advance on the DirecTV web site), clearly had the game in SD only.

If you had checked the DirecTV onscreen guide (before they removed the game's title from channel 739-1) you'd have seen the "HD" symbol next to the title.

I'm watching WCIU channel 26-1 (via OTA in Chicago) and the game is in glorious HD (and the score looks good too). :D

MLB ExInn does NOT have a retransmission deal for games with this station, as well as many other independents.

Again, the DirecTV schedule (released for this week as of Sunday) clearly lists the game as SD ONLY. Just because the folks doing the electronic guide can't read the
schedule really doesn't count. I explained why the game wasn't available, that should suffice (although I guess that anyone can take issue with reality).

I'm well aware of that.
;)
I was just rubbing it in a little, along with clarifying that the OTA broadcast IS in HD since you were unsure and guessed it probably wasn't.

Unfortunately most customers don't look to an external source for sports schedules ... and why should they have to when they have a guide on their DVR.

I don't even have MLBEI
I couldn't care less as I'm enjoying the 6-2 lead in the 8th inning.
I was just clarifying what you said, sir.
That's the REALITY of it.
:D
CSN + cubs and sox games are missing the HD icon but they are in HD.

Nope. Rogers Sportsnet definitely covered it in HD. Watched it on a Star Choice dish.
Man I wish the White Sox and the Cubs would stop having games on WCIU Channel 26. It wreaks havoc for me when I come in and try to watch a Chicago game in the evening and they throw a game on that Chicago area only channel. Why in the HECK must they do this? Why Can't they just keep things simple and put games on WGN or Comcast Sportsnet Chicago? Why, Why, Why???
