Just saw Directv is taking orders for MLB Extra innings.

215.94 x 1 payment or

35.99 x 6

I tried to get a discount, but because I'm still getting the new deals and rebates plus I got NFL free last season and 50 of NHL CI, and 50 off NBA LP,

I wasn't able to get a lower amount.

I wasn't complaining.

So I, just chose the 35.99 x6 option, and paid it with Feb bill, so 1 down 5 to go.

Yeah I took the X6 option too.

Been doing the multi-payment options for a few years but I am seriously considering cancelling and going strictly MLB TV for about $100 less. I am hesitate because of picture quality not being able to watch on all my TVs in the house.

I thought about doing the 215.94 and just pay it in 1 shot, that way i don't have to worry about it.

But i was like I would have to add that to the premeir charge, my bill would have been like 330. i was like Nope cant do that.

The good thing is, When Opening day arrives, I'll have 3 payments in and 3 to go.

I saw this thread, so I thought I'd give them a call to see what they would do for me.

I've been with them for 3 years next month and have had MLBEI all 3 years.

No real unusual credits on my account, but I did get NFLST for about $70 back in the fall.

I called and did cancel/cancel -- just like when I did NFLST.

I said I was calling about the MLBEI renewal letter I received a week or so ago, and wanted to know if there were any options to lower the price this season. For the record, last year I was given $10 off a month for 6 months.

Offer 1 -- $5 off / 6 months. I told him I'd have to think about it and would call them back to to let them know if I still wanted it at that price.

Offer 2 -- same as above, plus a 1 time credit of $35.99 -- which would lower the total cost to about $150. This offer I was going to take, however when I told him I would just do it in 1 payment vs 6 monthly payments......he presented me with.....

Offer 3 -- Half off the package if I paid in 1 payment, which brought the cost down to $108. Clearly I took that offer and thanked him for helping me out.

Worst case, I would have taken offer 1 at a later date if that was the best I could get. I thought option 2 was pretty good and would have made it cheaper then what I paid last year. Option 3 was better than I could have hoped for (given prior discounts on MLBEI) and I hung up the phone very happy.

Not bad for 5 minutes of my day.....

Wow great deal on offer 3. I'd probably take that too. Thanks for sharing.

The past 2 years I got $10 off a month for 6 months but I'm seriously considering actually canceling this year and just watching MLB Network. We'll see what happens.

Oh I think I need to try that, I'd rather pay 108 for MLBEI than 115 for MLBTV. When you say you did cancel/cancel, was that verbal or a selection? And did it dump you to a specialist of some sort rather than a front line CSR?

It was verbally what I said when it asked my why I was calling.

I think it sends you into a retention CSR vs a regular CSR....based on what I've read here.

Agreed. Thanks for the heads up. I too am contemplating going with MLB.TV instead of renewing the more expensive EI, but if the costs are closer, I'd definitely prefer sticking with EI.

I wish that they let you get MLB TV free with EI sub like they do with NBA LP
Yep, baseball is a real ripoff with that. You pay for MLB EI through your tv, then pay for at bat if app each year if you want to listen to games, and have to pay another $100+ for MLB.TV.

No idea what you are talking about. I get both the Marlins and Rays here with my regular setup.

Edit: this was in response to another thread. I wasn't arguing with my split personality.

yeah, I'll be paying for mlb.Tv mainly for when I go to the shore area and visit family.

But I might get a slingbox instead and just watch directv from anywhere an internet connection is.

I just called to try and get a deal and was offered $5 off a month for 6 months. He said that he could leave notes in my account and maybe if I call back someone would give me $10 of a month.

He didn't sound very sure of himself, which isn't normal for when I reach the retentions department.

Oh well...I will try again at some point.

Dont think I can afford to keep EI this year unless they give me a real sweet deal when I call and cancel. Plus I'm moving soon and depending on the place I get, I may not even be able to keep DirecTV.

I'll probably call in the next week or so when I get my tuition reimbursement from my company and pay for it in 1 payment at the same time I do NFL ST. My wife and I want this stuff paid for and out of the way and not have to worry about higher bills for 8 months out of the year. I doubt I try and haggle. I have about $30-$40 worth of credits on my account for the next year so I would really feel guilty trying to get more especially since when I asked for them a few months ago money was tight and I needed some help from them.

I think Im going to do the 6 payments unless I get a healthy discount. I called about NBA League Pass and was only offered a $10 discount if I paid it it one payment so I passed. I dont care about mlb.tv I wouldnt sit at a computer to watch games for any length of time.
Im not sure if any of the other cable companies offer both feeds like DirecTV does so I'm happy to pay for this.
