Suggestions?

Are you having any signal issues?
Any recent large storms that knocked out signal for a length of time?
Are most channels effected or just a few?
Post your signal strengths?
You can also try to do a menu reset (go through the setup menu and select reset) then when the receiver is done rebooting, do the same thing again right away. This will flush the guide data and cause a complete redownload/update of the guide data.

what channels specifically?demonstimpy said:Well it did appear to clear the guide. 24 hours later, data is in there.
Still the channels that I had the main issue are still missing data.
600's have 12 hours or so of data and that is all.
I'm having similar problems. I have two HR21-700s about a foot apart, identical cable runs, etc. One has Guide problems and one doesn't, so that pretty much takes the sat feed off the hook (I didn't do an exhaustive comparison of transponder values, but both seem to have 0s in the same places, and acceptable values everywhere else.)Grentz said:You can also try to do a menu reset (go through the setup menu and select reset) then when the receiver is done rebooting, do the same thing again right away. Many more up on higher, but I'm tired of typing them all.
Anybody have any ideas? I haven't reset it yet b/c I'm recording a couple of things, but I'll try that at about 10:00 Central.
Yeah, I find that interesting, too. Usually, it seems like when something like this hits one person, it hits thousands. I understand that Guide problems do happen occasionally, and that there are many variables such as power hits, probably how full your disk is, etc. Still, I have had my receivers since February (of this year), and this is the first MAJOR problem I've encountered (with the Guide, that is!!)demonstimpy said:So by the lack of comments, this is not an issue many are experiencing?

I did the satellite setup thing again myself, and noted a couple things:
(1) I had been set up for "dual tuners", which my machines have, but I didn't have another pair of cables run from the switch. After I redid the setup, the machine was stuck searching for satellites on Tuner 2 (which it was never going to find...) My install tech must have known some sneaky way to get around this problem. For myself, I just went back in and did satellite config AGAIN, but this time turned off the "dual tuners".
(2) I noted that there was a message that said that the Guide info would continue to download and rebuild over the next 24 hours or more. I don't know if that same warning applies to the double-reset method described earlier in this thread. After about 18 hours now, a good deal of the Guide has been rebuilt; there are still some "holes" in the programming within the next 24 hours or so. And of course, if you go out 10 or more days, there are still some bizarre artifacts, like a listing on USA that says "Upcoming, The Mummy" for six hours (as if USA were a PPV channel).
I'm hoping that repeating the satellite setup has caused a thorough rebuild of the Guide, and that the info will continue to improve with a bit more time for downloading.

It was in the verbiage of one of the screens you have to go through during ther sat setup. I ususally don' t read that drivel myself, but I was bor-hor-horrreed!
I wish we had stats as to how many of the service calls over three last weeks have been Guide issues.demonstimpy said:The sat setup appeared to clear out a whole load of data unlike a reboot.
I do suspect the setup did the trick as opposed to the reboot.
Give it 24 hours and hopefully you will be good.
Thanks for sharin',
