I'm trying to keep a positive attitude but this just keeps getting worse and worse...
Earlier I mentioned that I was 0-4 when it came to recording important shows. That was the tally after having the HR20 mysteriously delete both the Redskins game and Patriots game last weekend.
So... how's it been since then?
Watched the Skins game live. Ok... this worked pretty well. It was on the networks so I didn't have to deal with the annoying stat tracker or anything like that. The HD reception was great... no serious problems (note: there was a 3 minute patch where the video was unwatchable but that ended and the rest of the game was ok).
The afternoon game was deleted (Cowboys vs Eagles). Would have enjoyed that one but honestly, I didn't have my hopes up. Again... game shows up in history as "deleted". Why??????
Tonight I go to watch Studio 60. Last week I ended up watching it on my backup system (ReplayTV in low def but 100% reliable) because the HR20 would insert a black screen every 30 seconds or so that was totally annoying. This week... no sound. Even more useless. What the heck? This is just unbelievable. How can D* get away with putting out a product that screws up this badly, this often? And the variety of failure modes has me convinced that this thing is not even close.
In earlier posts I complained about the UI. Said it meant a lot to me. The consensus seems to be that I'm just a complainer -- that the UI is fine and I shouldn't be such a whiner. Guess what... the consensus was right. UI matters very little when the unit can't even function. I get it now. I could live with the crappy UI. But this complete lack of reliabililty is just ridiculous. It's outrageous.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I call customer disservice? Do I sue to get out of my contract? Do I go to cable? Do I resign myself to this? Do I wait up every night hoping D* downloads a magic upgrade to my system to fix all these woes? Help!!!!!
