I called and scheduled a move. Very helpful CSR and was able to get the date and time I need for my move. And since I am a Premier subscriber and already have Showtime and Starz I was given $23.99 off my bill for 3 months rather than get those premiums for free. Also, I was able to add an additional HD receiver for free (other than the $20 handling fee). My 2 year commitment will reset but I don't mind because I won't be switching to anything else within that time anyways.

No real point to my post other than to give credit where credit is due.

I will follow up once the move is completed on August 21st.

Good luck. When I used the mover's connection two or so years ago, it went super smooth. My new house had a single LNB dish which was upgraded to triple LNB plus a multiswitch. Lucky for the installer, all of the runs were already there. He said it was his easiest install of the day. :)

There is already a Slimline in place and runs throughout the house. No LOS issues either. The best part is that I will be closer to all of the HD local antennas. Hopefully all goes well.

Well this entire "Mover's Connection" experience just went to s**t. Michigan Micro called at 5:17 pm and cancelled my installation for tomorrow morning saying they didn't have enough techs. I had already taken the day off work (which was next to impossible due to me having a new job). D* offered to reschedule for the 29th which is totally unacceptable. I am seriously pissed off about this. I scheduled this thing nearly 2 weeks ago. This is effing bulls**t.

Sorry to hear that. With a slimline already in place, can you get anything up and running on your own?

I still don't get why people take off work for an installation. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I always wait till after work or weekends.

Sometimes the wait is into weeks in some areas if you wait until the weekend.
I would have gladly scheduled a Saturday if not for them being booked until mid September for weekend or evening appointments.

The thing that bothers me is that I was likely bumped in favor of people who scheduled well after I did. The message Michigan Micro left stated " a severe shortage of techs" was the reason for the cancellation. It took them untl 15 hours before my install to figure that out? My only hope is that the existing Slimline is functional.

Take weekemds if you can get 'em, but as noted, those tend to be scheduled out farther already. As for evening appointments, when all of the appointments during the day go long and they have trouble making the 8 to noon and noon to 4 windows, who do you think comes out on the wrong end of that deal - the appointments at the end of the day??? Count on it. ;)

That 4-8 time slot is doomed to fail in a lot of cases. Especially if its an install. Avoid it if at all possible.

Don't know if your are unlucky or I am just lucky but I had Michigan Micro do my movers connection install (moved from Onondaga to Williamston) on Monday the 18th (phew-at least I know I didn't take your tech away from you). Everything went well with mine. Tech came when they said, installed new slimline, end of story.
Sorry about your cancellation, I know what you mean about taking time off and having someone cancel or no show on you.

The nightmare continues...

The CSR had the wrong address. I've been disconnected twice. After telling a CSR that I was disappointed in the service I was getting she yelled at me that "DirecTV has the number one customer service in the nation, sir." What a friggin' joke. I still have no confirmed install time becaue the original CSR ceated an order for an installation for the address where I've already had service for 9+ months. Unreal.

Oh great. I was typing this while holding and I just got disconnected again. What a clusterf**k.

I've been sent to the customers old address more times than I can count. Sometimes I wonder how these CSRs find their way to and from work. You'd think the bread crumbs they leave would be eaten by critters during the day.

Unreal. Something is wrong with their CSR screening process.

After yet another round of calls I was finally able to complete the order. Everything was fine until the installer called yesterday to inform me that my install time would be September 2nd. My wife told the person from Michigan Micro the story of our install and was placed on hold. The CSR at Michigan Micro apologized and set up the install for this morning at 8:00 am. The installer showed up 10 minutes early and was finished by 10:30. He was very professional and did a great job.

This saga has come to an end. That is until I send D* an email describing my troubles. I don't normally expect any types of credits but I'll make an exception on this.

But overall, I am happy because I can watch the race tonight. :D

After explaining the difficulties I had with the mover's connection to the good people at D*, I was given free HD access for 1 year. Totally fair IMO.:)

Some areas they have appointment windows for 4pm-8pm, maybe not in the OP's area.
They did not have that time frame available for my install. It was 8-noon or noon-4pm.

Congrats!! You are very deserving of that much at least.
