Moving access card from one receiver to another?

949 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  joshjr
I am going on vacation for Thanksgiving to my folks place who have DirecTV but don't have NFL Sunday Ticket. Of course ,not watching the games is not an option so I was hoping I can just take one of my access cards out and pop it into their receiver, but I assume that will not work. Is that accurate? If I take the whole DVR though, that should work fine, correct?

Thanks!

swapping access cards will not work.

taking the receiver should work if they have the new dish installed and you can get it setup right with signals + coax cables into it, out to tv etc etc.

but just best to leave it home and go enjoy the family...............ymmv
Yeah just take the reciever with you it should work fine.
There's also the online streaming. Comes with SuperFan. It is intended to serve the need you definitely have. PQ can be pretty decent on a large computer monitor.

Yeah I forgot about that. If you have the cables to just hook up the families CPU to the TV then you would not even have to worry about anything. Good luck with it. I am sure you will get something figured out.
