After loosing my distants that I love due to inferior locals, I am contemplating on "moving" to NY or BOS. I realize that Boston SD locals are on Spotbeam and I can't get them in Indiana, but am I mistaken when I see that the HD versions of NY and BOS both appear to be on 61.5 (which I have for HD) at transponder 12 and that I would be able to get EITHER of those from IN?? I was going to go with NY because I can get them on CONUS here but if BOS HD locals are available in IN, I may "move" there.

Can someone who knows what they are looking for please confirm this for me??

Where are you in Indiana that the locals are "inferior"?

Terre Haute. I am into recording live music from various shows and our NBC and FOX are not in stereo most of the time. Neither will be HD until 2009. We have no ABC. CBS (WTHI) is the only decent channel worth watching in my opinion.

I have Terre Haute locals as well... They aren't THAT bad... Other than no ABC. Besides, I'm willing to bet that NY's locals will move to spotbeam after December 1st.

The only thing I hate about WTWO is the stupid little competition they constantly have with WTHI.

They bash them all the time. Reminds me of a little child teasing their older brother.

everything you said is correct. you will be able to pick up either of these HD locals by "moving". of course, this will affect your RSN too.

also note that HD locals for Philadelphia and Washington DC and SD locals for Providence, RI are on 61.5 too:

wasn't there a joke on studio 60 about Terre Haute one week???

Anyway, on WTWO always Bashing WTHI, heck when my mom was in the hospital and luckily our satellite is st. louis stations, oh yeah and by the way the jon stwerdt thing actually got mentioned on our stations in st louis too, but back on track WTWO was COMPLAINING about WTHI always being on air for hours, I can say that I pefer having non stop coverage, because as anyone around here knows, our weather can change in a instant, and a tornado can pop-up in 2 seconds, and WTHI will literaly show the radar data that proves it, where as WTWO Thinks My name is earl is more important than a dangerous situation.

All I can say is that inferor doesn't even come close to cutting it. WTHI will have HD in full power pretty soon, WTWO and the fox station isn't even in STEREO yet. I wonder why E* doesn't offer the Indianapolis ABC station to all of the market, instead of just east of terre haute.

I have a question for ya, why move to NY or Boston, when you can move to St. Louis and have HD locals, and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Indy have HD locals yet? I wouldn't be suprised if either spotbeam makes it to TH, the illinois counties for sure it would for the st.louis stations.

Indy locals are uplinked on 118 but are not yet available. Same satellite as St. Louis.

jessshawn, do you have an ota antenna to pick up terre haute stations?

because if you do, you could "move" to Dietrich or Greenup and get WICS and all the other springfield-champaign stations except ABC from champaign on the dish, it's just SD, but you'd get abc. Seeing that you are in crawford county, you probeley could get the terre haute stations on an indoor antenna, since the towers are down near sullivan, in basically right across the river from you guys.

It won't work. Yes, they do have NY stations on CONUS, for those qualified or with RV's; but when ordering NYC locals, they put you on a spot beam.
