Hi, I'm moving to the Raleigh NC area, Not sure on the exact location yet, im between 3 apt places 1 in rocky mt, wilson and northeast raleigh it self.

I'm currently in Philadelphia, big sixers fan and I know i'll be able to get philly sports teams with the sports packages of each sport.

but what I wanted to know is when the sixers play the bobcats, is that considered raleigh's NBA team.

when I use the sports pack tool look up and put these zips in

27616
27804
27893

I get 2 channels and 3 teams

Orioles, nationals, Hurricanes

so as you see no bobcats, When i put a greensboro or charlotte zip bobcats do pop up.

I noticed bobcats are on Sportssouth, they were on FS south before not sure if that has anything to do with it.

My main question is, when the sixers play the bobcats, will i still be able to watch on NBA LP or have to either go to the game or something.

Outside of that, I should be ok. I won't have nearly any blackout problems as I had in philadelphia.

thanks,
Lou

also any tips, when dealing with nutty weather, tornadoes, etc. I'll be prepared and will have renters ins.

Oh I almost forgot, Is there a certain direction the dish will need to be in NC vs PA.

My dish is facing the southern direction, so I know it will have to down there but is there also something else, I should do.

I will have the directv tech do all the work.

The Bobcats are carried on Fox Sports Carolinas, as are the Hurricanes. DirecTV carries FSCR in both standard and high definition.

Of course, the only teams worth watching are the Hurricanes and the Nationals ;-D

ok, so even though the bobcats don't come up when you type the zip in when looking up the RSN.

They still will, be on FS carolina in the raleigh area.

Thanks,

Personally i could careless about the bobcats, its jsut they play philly 4x a year, so wanted to make sure i could see the game.

oh and lastly, when hurricanes, or bobcats when there not televised, but they are playing a game, if the other team is broadcasting, can i watch with example say NBA LP and NHL CI

Going back to the Fox Sports site, it appears that they are not carried on Fox Sports Carolina, instead they are carried on Fox Sports South. I don't follow professional basketball, so I haven't really looked for the Bobcats. To be honest, in the Raleigh area, College Basketball is king. If you love NC State or Duke you'll be in hog heaven.

It looks as though the listing you were pulling off the website is correct. I'm sorry.

I do thank Peter Angelos for being a greed pig and claiming everything from South Carolina to New York as Orioles territory. As he was majority owner of the Mid Atlantic Sports Network, he guaranteed that I would continue to get the Nationals games down here. I've even brought a couple of coworkers to the "dark side."

What you will quickly discover when you move to NC is that no one gives a flip about the NBA (other than who is leaving UNC or Duke early to jump to the NBA). Basketball down here is all about the ACC.

Even though I have been here 34 years, I still have not been converted to be an ACC fan. The only reason I have DirecTV is so I can get the SEC games. With DirecTV, I can get every Kentucky game, including the Blue-White scrimmage and the pre-season exhibition games.

When the Hornets were in Charlotte, I watched a few of their games, but I have never watched a Bobcats game.

LOL, I actually do like College basketball, the big five temple, villanova are big in my area.

I really dont like the NBA now as i did about 20 years ago, but I do like to watch sixers why don't ask, but theyre playing well for having no star on the team.

I dont like the bobcats and wont care about them. I was just inquiring when sixers play them 4x a year.

But everything else seems great thought, and If i can get pretty much all my philly teams, along with college football, and basketball were good, i really wont mind losing 4 sixers games.

i was suprised the braves arent considered not all of NC baseball team.

For some reason orioles, nats, and near charlotte the REDS.

i have no clue who figures these out.

the reds stadium must be a good drive who thought charlotte be a RSN for them

I just got a reply on my facebook, i asked FS south,

bobcats games are blacked out in the raleigh area with directv. The nba says its part of the market for bobcats, Directv choose's not to purchase the games for the raleigh area.

So even on NBA LP its blacked out. I was told If i got time warner I would be set.

So i laughed.

bottom line, when sixers play bobcats which is 4 x a year, I would be blacked out. But that would be my only loss, losing 4 sixer games is a better trade, then losing all phillies, flyers games.

so I'm happy.

You may want to be more worried about the apartment you are moving into, lets just say some apartments are not satellite friendly. You should look for a place that allows satellites anywhere on property or an apartment with a south view for apartments that only allow them in your leased space. That is if you care to keep DTV.

MLB figures that out and Peter Angelos is one of the "more equal" pigs. When they were setting out markets, he basically claimed anything between the South Carolina Line to the New York Line as his territory. The fact that there are two professional teams in PA didn't matter to him, perhaps he got away with it because the Orioles are American League. In any event, when he set up the Mid Atlantic Sports Network as a condition in allowing the Expos to move to Washington, that ensured that MASN and MASN2 would be available throughout North Carolina, assuming the cable entity was interested in picking it up. I think only Dish and DirecTV picked it up. In any event, I'm grateful as MASN/MASN2 carries almost any Nationals Game, there are only a few that they don't. You should be able to get your Phillies fix, at least when they're playing the Nats.

Once upon a time -- before the Braves moved to Atlanta, and even before the Browns moved to Baltimore to become the Orioles -- the Reds were considered the "official" MLB team for the South. After all, they played right across the river from a Southern state (Kentucky). Portions of western North Carolina being in their territory is a vestige of that idea.

(The Cardinals also still have a very large territory, for similar reasons.)

Incidentally, it's definitely not part of their territory, but I assume there's some interest in the Rays in the Raleigh-Durham area, given that the Durham Bulls are the Rays' AAA minor-league team.

The Bobcats are shown throughout the Carolinas on Time-Warner Cable only. I don't know why. They are also not shown on Fox Sports South or Carolinas, but they are shown on SportSouth, which is not the same thing, but still a Fox Sports channel. Directv only shows the Bobcasts on SportSouth-Charlotte (one of the SpSo alternate channels, around ch. 650 to towns within 75 miles of Charlotte. I had to "move" to Lexington to get the games to come through. I live in Alamance County, between Raleigh and Greensboro, within the Greensboro DMA, but use AM21/antenna for superior Raleigh channels. If you "move" to Lexington, you would Set the VERY inferior Greensboro channels on Directv.
To get the Bobcats near Raleigh:
1. Get an antenna and AM21. Use that for Raleigh channels. All the Raleigh channels are on the database EXCEPT 22-2 Country Network, 30-3 TCT Family, and 30-4 TCT Spanish.
2. "Move" to Lexington. you'll get Greensboro channels and WSOC Charlotte via SV.
3. Hope and pray that the Greensboro spot beam is strong at your place!

They will be strong enough. I near Greenville NC, 90 miles east of Raliegh. I actually use a Raliegh address to get the Raliegh locals, I get locals with a signal in the 90% range. My family has a vacation home in the Boone NC area and its served by the Charlotte NC locals. I often use that address here in the Greenville area. Signal range is in the 20-35% range, picture still comes in with a great picture.
Ive checked Greensboro signals in Greenville as well. Signal in the 20s. So im sure that Raleigh which is very close to Greensboro would get a signal.
