Hi,

I will be moving in a few days and was looking for some advice. I currently have 2 HR-24 DVRs and a TIVO analog DVR. I want to upgrade the TIVO to a HD one preferably the HR-34 or if not a HR-24. Also, I guess while I am at it, might as well get the whole room DVR option. Any advice on what I should ask for and what discounts I should get? I am a long-time customer but am currently towards the end of my contract. Thanks.

Call and ask for the movers connection group. They run specific specials for moving. If the company is going to put money into another install for you, they are going to want you to have the up-to-date equipment installed to prevent coming back out there in 6 months to do it. Just let them know what you are looking for an you should have no issues. You probably won't get the HR34 as you're an existing customer and they are low on units. 3 HR24's would be 6 tuners and a pretty solid system. That would be hard to beat.

Actually, using Mover's many customers are getting the new customer deal of $99 for a HR34. As mentioned though, you will need to call and ask to see what is available. If you end up with the HR34, you will be upgraded to SWM at your new location. MRV will also be easy to set up as you will only need a Cinema Connection Kit to add Internet access to your receivers (although, technically you might not need one depending on where your router and HR34 are installed).

Even without the HR34, he will get an MRV install. Almost all HD moves are getting setup for the future features of whole home, whether you want the service or not. That way it can be turned on over the phone and the company does not have to continue installing older switches when they've already entered into a new direction.

Either way, call them and ask about the HR34 and, incase you get someone who is new or.... something:), make sure to say you want whole home dvr with the cinema connection kit.

I don't believe that is necessarily true. If you have a legacy setup and use Mover's and make no change to your setup, you will be installed with a legacy setup.

I called them this morning at got this setup. Have a HR34 coming for $99, got the cinema connection kit, (lady said something along the lines of HMC?) already had the whole home dvr service at my old place, and they are continuing that at the new house, free install, free NFL sunday ticket, 3 months free HBO, Showtime, etc.

Was this a great deal overall?

I'm in Rochester, MN btw.

If you are moving call and speak with Movers Connection. I would not start off asking for discounts, that will not get you anywhere. But right they are low on HR34's and depending on your account history you could get it discounted. I do know its not free for anyone including new customer. I have (2) HR 24-500 and a H25 it works great with the whole home especially if you have the cck to access the on demand and tv apps.

I was referring to his current setup and how they would install him at his new residence.

So without asking I got the whole room DVR upgrade as well as an additional DVR for the cost of shipping $19.99.

What are the advantages of the HR34?

Also, do I need to request the cinema connection kit if I am getting the whole home dvr? What does the cinema connection kit do? Thanks.

The HR34 can record 5 things at a time. It also has a fast processor and more memory (IIRC). It is brand new (sort of), and has firmware bugs that can be annoying, but are not fatal. It will only get better as improved firmware is released. (which happens automagically, you need not force it)

Enjoy!

It definitely sounds like a good deal but really a deal is only a deal if it works for you. :)

Are you happy with it so far?

I'll be sure and let you know how the install goes on June 16th when it's all done! I'm sure it will work out great though, as I'm real excited about being able to record 5 total shows at once(i've had some shows conflicting in the past with only being able to record 2 things at once) and I have to keep up with deleting shows as my current hd-dvr doesn't have near the capacity. I do love whole home dvr though.

Well, it's good to see they've changed that then.

You shouldn't have to, but I would just in case. The CCK is a way of hooking your internet connection to your receivers.

Enjoy!
