I’m moving after 20 years and will be in a rental for a year or two. Been a D* subscriber for all that time. There’s no dish mounting area available at the rental. I have over 10 DVRs throughout the house and sadly can’t keep them.

What’s the best strategy with D* after I return the boxes? Do I keep one to pretend I still have a dish and just use the streaming service or is it worth it to start over with a new account at the new address as a new customer? Can I convert from a standard account to streaming only?

I’ve been using the Apple TV D* app and it’s decent enough. All TVs have an Apple TV so any streaming option is viable. Been reading the other thread about YTTV so that’s also an option I will look into.

All suggestions welcome. Thank you.

The cheaper option than keeping DTV without a dish (if you can even do that) would be to either switch to DirecTV Stream, YTTV, Hulu Live TV, or Fubo etc....whichever meets your needs the best.

Since your library of recordings will be lost, I suggest you start fresh looking for a streaming provider.

Consider all of the available options with an eye on the channels/programming suites you need and the features you want.

All you owe DIRECTV is consideration of their DIRECTV STREAM offering.

How sure are you that there is no place for a dish? You only need to see 99-103 degrees these days. I've used temporary mounts a number of times in the past 25 years where you mightn't have thought it would work.
