Hi everybody!
So I just got off the phone with DirecTV since my contracted ended last month and I upgraded my last 2 SD receivers to a HR34 and a HD receiver for $160 installed. I'd like to think I did decently well and DTV got their 2 more years.

So that brings me up to 2 HR24s, 1 HR34 and 1 HD receiver. I've got a SWM LNB (1 cable) and a SPLIT8 (?) -- what looks like a 8 way splitter. I don't think it's a SWM8 since there aren't any legacy ports or anything.

Obviously that'll only support 8 of my now 10 tuners. Will the installer just add a SWM16 or will anything else need to be changed?

The LNB will be swapped, the SWiM-16 added, and this will give you two outputs that NEITHER can exceed 8 tuners.

So does that mean instead of the single cable coming from my dish now I'll have 4?

Yes, there needs to be four from the dish to the SWiM-16, but the -16 might be mounted near the dish if it's a problem, and then two from it being split to your receivers.

No, that's 10 tuners.
