Interesting article in this month's Sound & Vision regarding HD compression from both OTA broadcasters, cable operators & DirectTV. My initial skim of the article talks about the mpeg4 compression that DTV uses having fairly good fidelity.

How does Dish compare ? Do they use mpeg4 compression as well ?

IIRC, Echostar was about the first in the US to roll out its conversion to MPEG4.
