Can someone help assure me that it is infact the fault of a local feed's beam to DirecTV, Spaceway 2, or the HR-20 causing this and not my dish allignment =) And then once assured; give me hope as to when it will stop.

I live in Sacramento, and on a clear night with no wind all of my shows, even live, have pixelation of 10-15s atleast twice in a half hour. I figured these were recording issues, but last night I was home to see Smallville (CW), ER (NBC), and Gray's Anoatomy (ABC) [just to illustrate it is all feeds].

Signal meter shows transponder 2,3, and 6 as having 99 or 98, the others are 0. Lyngsat verifies my locals come from 99.2.

I can live with the 'features' like fast forward and jump back not working, but I need the TV shows to be viewable.

Oh and why does CW feel it neccesary to put their logo in the 4:3 spot on 16:9 broadcasts.. It's like it is hovering in the middle of the screen.

I'm in the SF bay area and can confirm; the hd locals are just crap.
I'm thinking about getting the HR20, but ONLY because of the local HD channels. I don't care about HBO HD, etc.

What is the quality that other people are getting on HD locals in the SF bay area?

Thanks

Me and the wife have gotten into that show Heroes on NBC. We live in the Dallas area, and for some reason I get pixelation like 3 - 4 times. Minor pixel action, but still sucky. MPEG4 stinks. Too much compression I guess. Or maybe it is just the channel. But when I watch Leno or Conan I don't get this. It seems like it is just on this show.

I'm in DFW, and love Heroes, too. I see the compression issues, too, on close-ups, close movements, and scene changes on darks.

I'm about to blow away all my hd local series links on networks where i have a west coast feed waiver and go back to the network feeds. the quality of the locals sucks compared to the west coast feed, and there's constant dropouts and sound quality issues.

if you're getting the HR20 for hd locals, don't rush, you'll be disapointed.
