I currently have a slimline to a multiswitch and then 3 DVR's.

I'm thinking of getting an HR34 and keeping the other 2 DVR's (HR22).

It sounds like I'll need a SWM8? The multiswitch I have now is in the ceiling of the basement about 20 feet from power. Can I feed the SWM8 from the multiswitch?

What you want to do is change to the SWiM-16:

Changing over to a SWM16 makes more sense as then all DVRs could be MRV'd.
Unless the first mentioned 3 DVRs aren't SWM capable.
It would also simplify the wiring as then only one coax is needed to each DVR.

An HR34 has 5 tuners, and each HR22 has 2 tuners. So you will have 9 tuners total, which mandates an SWM16.

Unless he switches one of the DVR's to single tuner mode, but that would be silly
