Does anybody really use them ? Every 6 months I scan through them to see whats on, listen for a few seconds and go back to regular TV. To me it seems like a big waste of channel space.

One man's trash is another man's treasure... I don't listen to them either, but "big waste" is probably an exaggeration when you consider the audio-only channels don't take much space compared to a video channel... so it's not like we are missing out on some new video channel because of all the music ones.

Absolutely I use them! I use both the CD and Sirius channels a lot, especially on weekends.

Frankly, it's another reason I could never go back to cable. The Music Choice channels on my local system are sub par IMO.

I have not listened in a while, but I don't mind them being there.

First, I listen to them.

Second, they don't use up that much space compared to video channels, particularly HD channels.

Third, it's one of my basic DBS rules: Everything I watch is vital and important, and everything I don't watch is a waste of bandwidth. Except that it's vital and important to the guy next to me. ;)

They use so little bandwidth, Dish can use them to "fill up" a transponder - so that the entire bitstream is being used.

(Not sure with the newer stat-muxes how they fit in, but IIRC, originally, they were "filler" in the bitstream...)

I have about 8 I listen to on a regular basis and the new age one on Sirius is a great 'babysitter' for my dogs when I am not home.

I often find something interesting to listen to when browsing through those CDs and Sirius channels.

My favorite is channel 6037 (Sirius The Strobe - Classic Disco) becuase it often plays some memorable and nostalgic pop/dance music from late 70s through early 90s. It reminds me of the days that I used to listent to local FM radio

I'm awaiting them updating these channels to HD Audio so they'll be added to my TurboHD Gold package.

I absolutely use the Sirius Channels.
In fact I have a weekly timer for Radio Bam on Sirius Faction 28 (ch. 6028)
And they don't use that much space. At one point, I had 80 one hour episodes
on my 508 and still had another 30 video programs stored on there too.

I have Hard Attack, Faction and Octane in my main favorites list in case
there is nothing on regular TV, I'll find something I like on the Sirius channels.

I use them quite a bit actually. I love Fuse because it's a nice alternative to MTV and they play more rock than MTV does. I really don't care much for MTV or MTV 2, but some of VH1's reality shows (or should I say Celebreality?) I admit draw me in. LOL. If anything, Dish can afford to expand the offerings. There are plenty of people who appreciate Gospel and Gospel Music TV from Sky Angel and Gospel Music Channel (on DirecTV) seem good. VH1 Soul would be a very welcome addition to a lot of people I know. I REALLY hope Dish considers Soundtrack Channel too because I'm a fan of Thomas Newman, James Horner, Randy Edelman and some of these movie composers. They are even launching in HD in the future, so another unique HD channel would be nice too. Even CMT Pure Country would be a welcome addition to a lot of people I know. CMT has become the country music version of MTV and VH1, and Great American Country plays more of the older hits than newer music it seems. There's certainly an argument IMO for music channel offerings to expand GREATLY.

I live in the radio-free zone of a radioastronomy observatory so the music channels on Dish are all that I get. Can't even pull in local public radio.

I would be one of those who very much appreciates the "wasted" bandwidth of the music channels. Especially the holiday channel at Christmas.

Ditto here. I listen to various Sirius channels all day long while I am working at home.

They are talking about the "audio only" music channels, not mtv,fuse,vh1 ,etc
