ok.. so whats this about this $5 charge if I don't have myt 622 hooked to a phone line.

I checked my phone usage (Vonage) and it shows no signs of use.

so is this $5 some kind of threat. now I never use the VOD or any of that other stuff.
so can I disconnect it?

If you do not have it connected to a phone line you run the risk of having a $5.00 a month charge added to your bill. You say you don't have it connected but then indicate that your Vonage account doesn't show it has dialed out. Those 2 statements contradict each other. Which is it, is it connected to your VOIP line or not connected to anything?

nono.. Vonage will tell me if the phone has dialed out.. even if there was a failed call Vonage would still show that a call was made.. a failed modem handshake will show no matter what as 1 minute.

not to mention , why not just get that stupid ethernet working.. would save dish tons if a call does not need to be made!

Any other use of the dial-in feature except for PPV use/updates is dumb. If you don't use PPV, it should not have to dial in (even though I know DN makes it call anyways). This is their way of helping to make sure you don't give an addtl. receiver to your neighbors and split the bill (and/or $2.50 month for 'no phone')... Plus they need the revenue to cover the cost of lawsuits.
