Fun new problem.

I paused live TV during Deal Or No Deal around 9:30pm. At 11:30pm I had it still paused (was not recording). The progress bar at the bottom will not appear with any keys on the remote. The channel banner says I am watching the Today show (7:00a-10:00a).

I cannot drive this beast in reverse though. It goes back a few seconds then resumes playing.

I got a magical buffer! :hurah:

From the title I thought this thread would have some obscure reference to "The Jerk"
Where the idea of "special purpose" had an interesting twist.

Yeah, well, it does have a special purpose and The Jerk is one of my favorites. lol

After I noticed the strange behavior, I went to bed. Got up this morning and noticed it recorded one of the two programs I had set to record. The news in the morning has been recording since I had the box and today was the first time it did not record.

Aside from it not recording the news, it appears to be working normally.

Although, I'm still trying to figure out when I set up a series link for Conan O'Brien at 12:37am as first run, why it records the 12:37am show AND the 3:04am repeat. Anybody have any ideas?

I've gotten the 0xE3 update, so I don't know if this problem still exists, but I can say for a fact that the 90-minute buffer limit was not correctly imposed on the HR20 with the 0xDC release.

I was able to get a 10-hour buffer last weekend after I had left it tuned to one of the preparation channels for Saturday GamePlan football. These channels are so that DirecTV can tune the bitrates and usually run for many hours overnight. When I came to watch the game, just before it started, I had 10-hours of DirecTV bitrate preparation recorded. I could not rewind.

There was another occasion when I left it paused too long and I was outside of the 90-minute buffer limit. FF worked, RW did not - even if I moved forward a ways and then tried to back up again. Once I caught up to the 90-minute buffer, things started working as expected again.

Maybe I'll try tonight to see if it's been fixed. I would expect the system to un-pause @ the 90-minute buffer limit and then be restricted in trick-play movement backward in time. That's not what happened, though.
