So I got the 622 last month and have been very impressed with the video quality and features. Some problems I have had were lost signal message when watching recorded programs, but now I have a more serious problem: When I switch channels I loose the image while still showing the channel/info bar at the top, just no live video or sound. If I hit the red power up button at the top of the remote, the signal comes back right away without delay, so i'm pretty sure that the satallite signal is present, just the reciever thinks it is lossed. Holding the power button down on the reciever did not resolve the issue. Any thoughts?

Also, the installer used the existing coax cable on the outside of my house that is at least 15 years old. Can I insist that they come back and install new cable? Thanks.

Don't know what's causing your problems, but as for the coax, it really should be RG/6, which, if it's 15 years old, it probably isn't, it's probably RG/58. The difference is that RG/6 has (significantly) higher bandwidth, which is needed with the VIP-622. If you have a short cable run, it won't make much difference, but a longer run will definitely affect signal strength.
