I had the movers connection install my service last Friday and the installer only wanted to install two HD DVR receivers even though the work order called for four. He talked my wife into only installing two. When I arrived he told me that he could not change the work order because we had signed the paperwork. I don't blame the installer it was raining cats and dogs that day. I called DirecTV and told them that the installer only wanted to install two receivers. The CSR talked to installer and he would not budge. I tried talking the installer into giving me the SW8 (for 8 receivers) so I can install the receivers myself and he told me that he couldn't give it to me. During my conversation with the installer the CSR was trying to talk to the installers local office but he couldn't reach anyone. The CSR decided to just send another installer for this Sunday.

When the installer was done I told him that I was going to need someone for a side job when I build my new house next year. He gave me his info and I gave him twenty bucks. He then gave me the sw8 and explained how to install it. So I guess my installation wasn’t as bad as others on this board. I do respect installers and the job that they do but I wish they would still give us the option of installing our own equipment.

If we try to do that in our market we can't even close the work order. Our computer system requires RID and AC# for every box.
But hey you got a SWM8 for $20.

I did get a SWMLine LNB. The power SWM ODU is connected by my living room tv. The installer told me that we could not unplug it and it had to stay on at all times and could not be connected to my back up battery surge protector.

You sound like "you're golden" then.
BTW: WTF?
You "can't" plug it in to a UPS/surge protector? [I think this is BS].
