My suggested "D" package

It would be title sports package. It would include the following

Locals

All the normal sports channels.....MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA Tennis, Golf, ESPN, etc.

It would also include the Sports Pack.

Now here is where it gets interesting. The subscriber would have to opt into one of the premium options. It could be the NFL Sunday ticket, MLB extra innings, NBA or NHL as they are the most expensive. The cost of same would be part of the monthly fee, making it more economical, as it would include a 2 year commitment & auto pay. Factoring in all of this, I would think a monthly cost of between $80 to $90 dollars would be about right.

Why do I want this?, because all I watch is sports, and could care less about the other 100 channels that are never accessed.

What do the rest of you think.

I think everyone would like the ability to choose a-la-carte. It's not gonna happen.
I think it's outragous that we have to pay up the booty for channels we don't watch just to get the ones we do watch. I told my wife that eventually we will have to go over the air and just be content with the locals.

I would drop all the sports and bull corn channel if I could. I think we get enough sports to suit me on the four major networks.

The package tiers offer a little something for everyone. That's how they sell. The higher you go with the tiers the more of those little somethings you get wheter you like or want them. As jburns pointed out, a-la-carte will never hapen. If your that unhappy then switch to OTA and save money.

Is it ala-carte? I don't think so. Their biggest ticket items are the NFL ticket, as is the MLB. Those are like options on a car. That is where the money is made. I think they would be foolish not to consider or modify what I have proposed.

Why would it be foolish? Their current distribution of those sports packages have been working and profitable for years.
It would have limited appeal. Most customers want more variety.
Yes, and the more subscriptions they have, the more money they make.
You may be right, but offering it is the only way to find out.

And what's wrong with that?
I also wonder if there are contractual obligations. For example, ESPN is in the Entertainment package. Would they have been allowed to not include it?
I'm confused, I do have ESPN, etc. included.

Thanks for your approval for me to go OTA if I wish. Gee Whiz. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings for saying something negative about D*.

It's not that I'm unhappy with D*. I like D*, but there will be a time when provider services could get too expensive to justify. But we shall see.
I am not unhappy with D. I am just looking for a sports related package. Sure, you could add some womens channels, TCM, AMC, QVC.....I get that they have to include others to keep them viable. I am sure I am not the only one who would like this package. Just offer it, and see what happens.

People are always saying negative things about DirecTV, DISH, Cable, ect. Goes with the territory. Doesn't hurt my feelings. As for provider services getting too expensive to justify it really amounts to where one draws the line.
