Is anyone having problems with the Hotpass Network channels today?

I have all the driver channels but neither the HD or the SD network channel is working for me.

I haven't done the RBR yet, I was checking to see if I was the only one with the problem before doing that.

While this is a bot late..., I had no issues with the HD versions of the channels. I tuned to the HD 799 channel at the start and then to a driver channel at :30 minutes later. All thru the race, they all worked fine. They even switched 2 from the 88 & 99 to the 20 & 16. (This is all related to the HD versions)

BOLD by me ...... they did what :eek2: and made no announcement about the change in drivers  :nono2:

THAT just sealed the decision NOT to buy Hotpass next year. And yes, I was on 799.

Well that is all nice and whatever that they switched cameras. BUT they didn't announce on 799 they were switching and Smoke would be on a dedicated channel. As soon as Jr wrecked I switched over to his channel during the yellow and nadda peep about giving his channel to a different driver, especially since he did manage to get back on the track.

I wouldn't expect them to announce on 799(espn/abc) feed that hotpass was switching drivers on their driver channels.

Satracer would know hotpass's policy in switching coverage to another team after initial team has trouble......

Usually when they switch driver channels like that, they run a quick crawl on the all the hotpass channels. I wasn't home to see it this time though. Maybe you missed it?
Yep, they have run the crawler in the past and it was for more than a fleeing second. If I recall it was for more than 15 laps. Running a crawler for a lap or two doesn't qualify as notifying the viewer IMHO. So if I blinked my eyes during the race, that was the only way I could have missed it.

We have made a definite and final decision not to renew HotPass next season. We plan to call D* when the chase is over to ask them to remove it so there will be no automatic renewal. The reasons are simple.

As has been postulated on this board, HotPass is paid for by the fans of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., hence his dedicated channel each and every race (two exceptions this season).

If that's so, then they don't need my $80 plus dollars to be successful. In fact, I suggest that they dedicate all four channels to Junior. One could be the regular channel that follows his progress around the track. The second camera could be in Junior's car where he could keep up a running commentary of his thoughts and feelings during the race. He could even let his fans know when he needs to pee in the suit. I'd suggest the third channel be dedicated to Junior's pit crew. Imagine the excitement and commentary as the fans eagerly await each pit stop. The fourth channel could be split between Tony Eury, Jr. and Junior's spotter. The fans could listen to Tony Eury Jr's riveting commentary and gain a great deal of knowledge about being Junior's crew chief.

It's clear to me that there will never, ever be any change in this situation so I'm pretty much done with the whole thing. The drivers I follow get the crumbs left behind and frankly, in this economy and considering what's ahead, we need to be more careful about our spending. Forget the fact that I can get other driver's audio. Half the time I can't get it to work or it's too hard to hear with the network people talking at the same time.

I might as well save my $80 dollars since apparently HotPass doesn't need it anyway. They're covered.

Sorry this is a tad late but....

Both drivers did crash out so they substituted other drivers. (can't show "dead air")

Actually, it is TWO races they did not carry JR., both road courses. I agree with you fully thought. I don't need Jr. EVERY week (even though I like him). They should spread it around thru the season and then spread it around thru the chase drivers in the chase part.

They should call it "DirecTV Earnhardt Hotpass"! He is on EVERY race it seems. Spread the wealth (as Obama says) DirecTV!!!

Wow! It has been a long time since I laughed that hard!

But you are 100% right! All 4 channels might as well be Junior.

I'm with you, no renewal of Hot Pass for me either.

Each primary driver has 2 backup drivers on that channel for each week. So if the primary driver goes down on channel 798 for example, then there is an alternate that fills the gap. These are made up of drivers that have agreed to be on HotPass.
