Just looking for opinions from people who know more about this than me. Is there any chance that Dish will add these two channels (NBA and CBA Sports Networks) to the Multi-Sport pack?

It would also be nice if NBATV-HD would be added. I have never understood why most channels in the MSP include SD and HD, but not NBATV.

NBATV should already be in multi-sport. The CBS sport channel appears to not be, however.

You should get the HD feeds as long as you are signed up to get HD for other things.

What packages do you currently subscribe to? That might help to explain why you aren't getting NBATV in HD.

Sorry,

Should have read "Is there any chance that Dish will add these two channels (NBC and CBS Sports Networks)"

NBATV is part of the MSP, but only in SD. I subscribe to 120+ with the MSP and HD add ons, but I have been told that I do not get NBATV-HD unless I upgrade my main package. It just doesn't make sense that MSP adds most other channels in HD because I have the HD package, but not NBATV-HD. I mean I only get NFLTV and MLBTV because of having the MSP, and I get their HD versions because of my add on HD package, why should NBATV be any different?

I understand your confusion on this, Stewart Vernon, because, well it simply doesn't make any sense.

Nonetheless, back to the main topic, I wonder if Dish will add NBC and CBS Sports Networks to the MSP pack. They are SPORTS networks afterall, shouldn't they be in the SPORTS package?

Thanks for your typo correction. Yeah, I didn't see NBC Sports in multipack either.

I have a feeling like CBS and NBC will not go there since they are networks owned by NBC and CBS that have other channels in those standard packages.

I expect that even though they kind of are like RSNs... they don't see themselves that way and will try to stay out of multisport in their negotiations.

As for NBATV in HD... is it possible that you have it in HD, but just don't have a mapdown? Have you tried looking up in the 9000s for the NBATV in HD feed?

I specifically wanted NBC Sports but it's not in the multipack. I had to switch to Top250 to get it. Seems to be the only package that has it listed. Two different reps said in was in other packages, but it didnt turn out to be correct.

NBC already has a channel in the MSP with Universal Sports.

MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, are all not RSNs yet they are included, but I guess they don't have other channels. Perhaps the most similar example would be FUEL TV, which is a Fox owned sports station that is part of the MSP, yet is not an RSN.

9508! Thanks! Great idea! Why would the map down not be working?

I forgot about Universal Sports... Hmm... I guess the "anything's possible" theory means it could happen.

To be honest, I think NBC Sports and CBS Sports should be in multisport as well as in AT200 or AT250 or whatever... that way sports fans with AT120+ can get them OR customers who subscribe to higher tiers get them too.

I couldn't say if it is Dish or NBC/CBS that ultimately makes a call like that to put a channel in different places.

Fuel is another oddity... was it always owned by FOX? I'm not a racing fan so I kind of ignore that channel. I'm wondering if it was perhaps in multisport before being bought by FOX and then it is basically "grandfathered" in there?

You're welcome.

I'd have to double-check... but NBATV is in a couple of places. I could be remembering wrong but I think it is one of those channels that is on a different channel for AT customers vs multisport.

What channel is your SD version on? Mine is on 156, which is where the HD channel maps down to as well.

I'm thinking that multisport gets authorized on a different alias feed.. and for whatever reason they don't have a different mapdown equivalent for it.

Not a bad idea.

Negotiations are compromises ... both sides make the call. One or the other may suggest the placement but at the end of the discussion there is agreement. There is a balance between being available to more subscribers and being seen as premium content.

9508 maps down to 156, 9509 maps down to 560. or at least they should. If other channels are mapping down perhaps the locks need to be checked to see if 156 HD got locked out for some reason in the past. I've had missing channels because I locked them out when they were something else.

I couldn't agree more.

As far as I know it has always been owned by FOX. I don't watch Fuel either, but it actually contains a lot of UFC and extreme sports programs. I think you might have it mixed up with Speed, which is also owned by FOX.

I don't have anything locked out, but now that I know where to find it I am happy. I just wish I would have known this during the regular season.

You're right... I was thinking of Speed. Though, it still sounds like I'm right to be ignoring Fuel too :)

Too bad you didn't ask sooner :) At least you know for next season.

Thanks to James for saying 560... I thought it was a different channel for one than the other. It is also possible you have a bug/glitch. Every now and then EPG data can get corrupt and prevent a mapdown from showing correctly.

Besides America's Top 250, according to Dish's channel lineup card, Dish America Gold ($59.99/month) also has NBC Sports Network.

http://www.mydish.com/downloads/Channel-Lineup/DISHamericaChannelGuide.pdf

However, you will notice that the package does not contain many channels like the America's Top packages.
