NBC is gettting obnoxious with corner logo and advertising

I was watching Fear Itself last night on NBC and for the entire broadcast NBC had a big bright advertisement in the lower left that included their logo and an advertisement for "America's Got Talent". It stayed there for the entire episode and at select intervals a brighter color logo appeared and some additional advertising swooped in.

It was very distracting and it made the program unwatchable as you couldn't look through and ignore the constant ad as it was very big and bright and the scenes were dark. NBC keeps getting worse and worse with their logos and bugs. It is making their programming unwatchable for me.

I still don't understand even the need to put your logo on programming. It doesn't cause me to watch more of your channel. The only thing that gets me to watch more of your channel is what programming is on your channel. :new_cussi

I don't think NBC would be advertising a FOX show.

So You Think You Can Dance is on FOX. :)

Yep. The trend to getting more in your face with in-programming advertising/logos is what is scaring me. I suspect it is only going to get worse and proliferate across more channels and programming as they continue to come up with new methods to grab your attention.
Oh, it's totally out of control. Their olympic ads are the worst. Easily the lower third of the screen is covered. NBC, no one is going to want to watch your programming if you cover it up!

It will get worse, for sure. They will put the show in a small preview box and the rest of the screen will be ads.
They're all getting bad with the overlays, but NBC's have been horrible this summer.
I think the networks do this because they know that more times than not people are now watching shows time delayed. Where they would normally run an ad for one of their shows during the commercials, people are now skipping those ads so they need some way to remind you shows are coming up.
Stuart said it best,It's totally out of control. They all do it & it's so obnoxious and annoying I don't want to watch their channels anymore.ENOUGH !
I'll agree it's out of control, but I've learned to block them out.

I rarely even notice them anymore. Just like the banner ads. I gloss right by.
I'm with stew, I don't see them anymore either.
It's like when I used to play baseball. After a certain number of years, you never even hear the chatter from the other team or from the stands. It seems silent when you're at the plate.
The Viacom channels have been getting progressively worse over time. I can't watch old shows on Nick any more and, when my wife watches a Lifetime movie, I am amazed at the screen clutter that appears at the end of each commercial break. Here's hoping that ABC and CBS don't join in on the fun. They seem to be the only two nets that are keeping the clutter to a minimum.

Adding to the fun on NBC, when we have a thunderstorm roll through town, the local channel will shrink the HD box a bit, run a crawl at the bottom, show a large map that covers the top 1/4 of the screen while NBC fights them for screen real estate as well. If you look closely at the top middle of the screen, you might actually see the program you are trying to watch.
Please annoy me a little more with the in-program advertising and the scheduling games. I have direcTV on speeddial, and look forward to watching the box sets of the shows.
As long as their are DVRs, these will only get worse.
One word for you guys....

PLEASE...

You want to see some obnoxious advertising? Check out Spike and TBS. Some REALLY obnoxious advertising there.
I've already removed TBS from the channels I receive. I haven't watched anything off Spiked for a long time.
I think all of these TV networks got [email protected]!!s plastering all of this advertising crap all over my TV screen. Sure, you can put in an occasional commercial to show what other shows you want us to watch, but keep that crap off the bottom of the screen while I am watching something else.

NBC, TNT, TBS, Spike, etc. they all do it. I purposely DON"T watch a show that was plastered over the bottom of another show. That is my boycott at this nonsense.
jay leno last night had a nice verizon wireless part in the show. i was fooled by it as i thought it was another joke. they were talking about the vcast
