I'm new to the forum, and have been reading a lot of the threads, but I sometimes get lost, due to ignorance of some basics. For example, I found a table which shows that (DirecTV) local channels for my area (DFW, TX) are available on Sat 103. I now view my locals via OTA antenna, fed into my HR10-250. I can also get locals from D*, but they are not HD. Is Sat 103 one of the new ones, which require the 5-horn dish?

I guess what I'm looking for is some basic "orientation" information, so I can catch up. I apologize in advance if this info is here, and I've just overlooked it. Thanks.

YES you need the 5LNB dish to get HD LIL from sat 103. They are transmitted in MPEG4 and you will have to have an H20 or HR20 reciever. You will also need the new dish and receiver to get the new HD offerings when the new sats are up.

Thanks; that's what I thought was the case. However, from some of the threads I've read here, I'm dubious that the HR20 is as stable as I'd like. Actually, I get good reception OTA at my house, except for Ch 8.1 (ABC). I'm only using an indoor rabbit-ear antenna at present, because I'm planning to be moving soon.
