Looks like I have a bad HDD. CSR is going to send out a replacement in 2 days, ok fine.

It will not get past the step 1 of 2 screen in setup, I assume due to the bad drive.
I tried to format drive using rec/down arrow at black screen with no luck....

My question is, can I somwehow get this to boot, even if HDD is bad so that I can at least watch programming till my new DVR arrives?

I don't think the unit will run without a HD in it. If you have an extra HD laying around (300 GB+), you might be able to drop in the new drive and use it until the replacement arrives. This, of course, would void your warranty though - not sure how DTV would handle it.

Even live TV is being watched from a few seconds of buffer on the HD so, bad HD, no signal.
