The DirecTV web site is starting to show the availability of neighboring local channels. For example, go to http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/packProg/localChannels.jsp?assetId=900018&_requestid=143607 and key in zip 27284. You will see that there is an additional ABC channel now listed if you are in Davidson county.

I checked 17044 -- no neighboring channels but lists TFT Channel 431. I checked my TV and is says 721 ---- channel not purchassed. Anyone have any idea why it is listed but not available???

Yeah I tried that already and of course nothing is available to me. Guess it was a waste of my time looking as I do not currently get locals from D* so it would not of helped me anyways lol.

TFT is Telefutura. Sounds like a Spanish channel. It's listed for me too but its 721 as well.

TFT is a Spanish Distant Network Station, similar to the National nets.
This is only included in locals if you subscribe to spanish packages.

I am near H'burg as well and have TFT listed too. Looks like a spanish channel. Absolutely no need for that one!

I don't receive any neighboring local channels in my market and i feel i should. I'm in the Memphis Tennessee Market.

We have gotten KAWB, which is another PBS affiliate, forever pretty much via Directv.

It is from up north (Bemidji) (I am in the Minneapolis DMA, it is in northern MN) and we cannot get it via OTA, but we get it on Directv.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is a rolling upgrade and that we'll see all the markets get neighboring significantly viewed channels, much like cable offers!

I have long felt that Rockingham County, NH, part of the Boston DMA, should get the Portland, ME locals as neighboring channels. I anm able to get some of these stations with an antenna, so they clearly are viewable here.

It appears that the function is not at 100%...it doesn't look like they've processed "significantly viewed" neighboring channels...Ex.: Yakima which has no HD doesn't show Portland when you enter Yakima zip 98901

I haven't looked at one city on that site that shows neighboring local channels. What good is it if we can't get neighboring markets? I Live in the Memphis Local Channel Market in Extreme Northeast Mississippi. While I Do Like Memphis Locals I feel that I should be able to receive Tupelo Mississippi's WTVA Channel 9 which is an NBC Affiliate that my local cable company does carry. The Local Cable Company carries NBC from Memphis and NBC from Tupelo as well but on DirecTv i cannot get Tupelo. I would actually hear more Local News from Tupelo than i would Memphis being that I am in Mississippi.

In the NYC market, Telefutura IS a local channel - channel 68.

I think it is a work in process. The significance is that they are doing this at all.

Well here in Albuquerque, we should be getting KENW-TV PBS Portales, NM and some Texas stations that is spilling over into Albuquerque's DMA.

Would love to have extra local flavors of out of town local news.
